I am a new convert to the Platform as of 6/05. I am convinced our platform is the Pro Tools of synthesizers. I use to mix my EIIIxt horn samples with real players for a larger ensemble effect. Now I'm mixing hardware synths with Scope synths for a truly thick sound.
My tip, hardware has become so cheap lately.This year alone I have picked up an old spare Lexicon PCM 70 ( 375 USD ), an Oberheim Matrix 12 w/case ( 1500 USD ),and am currently bidding on a 12-voice Oberheim OBMx!! This thing loaded was 8,500 USD back at it's '95 opening at the NAMM show. I will win this item for sure. It was the Oberheim sound re-done with MIDI,additional moog style filter switchings, and designed by Don Buchla.

You must have ALOT of space scope4live!! THose old obie 12's are HUGE. Completely put me off purchase as I just didn't have enough room in my humble litttle studio. Loved the sound though.

oh, and as you probarly got from the vectron thread u started, layering scope synths is nice as well. in example, layering a "short" minimax pad with a vectron pad containing a slow attack on the same midi channel... its so many possibillities! U can also make some very interesting bass sounds using this technique.

It would be nice to see scope 4's studio it's probably pretty impressive.

Actually it's a live rig / mobile recording hybrid at the moment. The Matrix 12 stays put, but anything rackmounted is used for live gigging. BTW I lost out on the 12 voice OBMx. Real shame, cause the only synth still being made that can compete with that fat bastard is the Studio Electronics Omega 8, which is a truly great synth for 4500 USD. But trust me that is the true fat analog synth. Only guys like us can hear the difference of scope synths and these analog beasts. But I still hear a difference, but with guys like J Bowen out there, I prefer to mix analog with his stuff for truly taylored made sound. Guys I run across at gigs are begging to play my rig on breaks, they say theyv'e never heard such fat sweepy shit live. I run it through live 6 Echo Pro, and PCM 70. While the Scope stuff comes out of 1632 w/ Celmos Tape Sim, and sp/dif'd Lexicon MPX 550. Sounds like descending heaven I've been told. BTW thanks for a stable rig Garyb.
