Hello all,
is it possiable to convert a wav file to this:
44.1khz,16bit, to pcm,A-law,8khz,64kbps.
i found A-law,8khz on Wavelab but didn't find pcm or 64kbps
need your advice.

A-Law was originally developed for telephony. It is a "weighted" PCM codec optimized for voice transmission.
As far as I'm am aware, A-Law is a 8bit-only codec, so I wonder a bit about your requirements..?
Anyway, a 8.000 Hz mono a-law file has (per definition) 64kbit/s... So, at least that value is ok then.

in short: the file format output by WaveLab is correct

sorry again..
i need to convert 44.1khz wav to pcm,A-law,8khz,64kbps,mono and i did that but Now they(a phone company) want all those files with a extension of .pcm ! i'd rename few .A-law to .pcm but it sound all distorted.
need your advice.

In what playback device does it sound distorted? The target device?
Be aware that when you try to open a file called xxx.pcm in WaveLab it doesnt know what to do with it and sets some standard values for sampling rate and bitdepth...(it is treated as RAW pcm without a header).

No i'd changed the extantion by Wincommander than open the file by wavelab.

as I said...
wavelab treats a file with the extension .pcm as a RAW file and thus prompts you to specify the chracteristics (otherwise uses default values)...
BTW: I just tried what you said and it is not distorted...
