Do I get the Solaris or the new Q-wave to add to my arsenal. I do not have any of the Zargs yet...but I've spent alot of time with a Prophet 5....is that like the Solaris?

the QWave is a nice monosynth - if you have 8 DSPs...
as John writes on his pages, it's very demanding in dsp resources - and it's very complex in details for tweaking and modulation.

featuring the Waldorf osc model it was done from an expert for an expert

the Solaris is a completely different approach - it's the 'how many different synths can one get in a box while it's still operational' thing

you will easily find your Prophet back on that from sound character and even operation.
but that's only where it starts...
anything from Analog to Wavetable to Vector synthesis including the Modular approach id there.
the Swiss knife of virtual analog...

best you ask John for a demo - he's a very prompt (and gentle) guy

Solaris. No doubt. In my opinion this is the best synth for Scope.

Yes just getting everything set-up for it..on a separate Music XPC machine running a Scope Home. Plus one Gigagstudio 3 on the host machine...and an Oberheim Xpander as outboard synth

I love to hear that someone else still uses the beast. I layer it with Scope synths, they compliment each other very well. I'm using GS3 with Scope4live performance. The box I had built for me was done proper. It's been a stressful/rewarding experience, especially now that I'm building my own. Since the X is so fat sounding the best dev. I've used with it was Celmos Bluewave, and believe it or not Poison. Wavetable & FM give me the extra timbres to experiment with. Back in the day I would MIDI up DX7 +DX9, then match the notes 5 feet away on an ancient, but fat OB-Xa. I really think that before long I will give the Oberheim XPander a proper burial in my project studio. Once I learn my way around Scope better. My DAW/bitch has some patches with MODIII, and Saturn layered that sound closer than anything else I've come across, but it still doesn't have that buzzy/drip quite right. I realize that whoever programs the SDKs and old DP cards, can make anything that they want, or hear. Well I guess that's my que. Quit wining and start my own programming. Since I just learned how to unzip mdl.s, and dev.s I have a long way to go, but it's a step in the right direction.
