It's true, rise your firewall protection, even if your computer goes slower in the net, it really worths it.

Also, very important, do a ghost of your C system.

well, NEVER connect a machine directly to the internet, use a router even for a single machine.

And to make it bulletproof:
spend 20 bucks on an old Mac to run an email client AND a 'personal web server' in your local net BEHIND the router/firewall combi.
Use it to receive mail, click any attachment - they won't harm you, definetely :razz:

Save 'good' attachments from friends and business partners to the folder that's published by the local web server (running on the 'invincible' old Mac).

Make a bookmark to that folder on your main machine to access those attachments in the latest and greates office and media formats (which the old Mac doesn't know about).

You'll never suffer from worm attacks anymore, you don't even need to worry about them. There is NO stuff out to compromise a Quadra or early PowerMac running OS8.
Including the router it's 100 bucks and an hour to setup :wink:
