this question has been asked before but im hoping technology has gotten a better since. Im looking for a simple way to rip dvd audio directly from the dvd.

Preferably one in which i can monitor the action on the screen and sort of punch in and punch out the recording as it goes along. Any ideas fellas? Thanx

I just use my hi-end hifi DVD player, connected via optical cable.

This does a neat job.

I understand, but I only have one hifi dvd player, and i dont want to stick it in the studio.

Im sure there is a much easier way internally to just select and rip digitally. Anyone, any suggestions?

there is no easy way by default, as the content is usually encrypted - and the disc is licensed for nothing but home cinema use (see the smallprint).
this isn't changed by the fact that a ton of code-breaker programs etc exist and their widespread use is generally accepted.

you need one of those programs which decrypt the disk and then let you reassemble the disk content for new encoding - no big news propably, but just to explain why it isn't that straight forward

haven't looked into them as i recently turned completely mac. on mac i use wiretap pro/audio hijack with good results.

I see what you mean, but you have to admit that DVD players are dirt cheap nowadays, they almost come with a carton of milk if you know where to look

oops, that reminds me...
of course the ripper soft is needed - the cheapo player doesn't decode the Dolby stuff
And if 5.1 is available then it's not appreciated to be missed, is it ?
