Hi, Pulsarians, first: sorry for my poor english...

Second:
During the whole past year, I’ve played with one of my friend’s soft synth: NI Reaktor 4.0: an amazing and wellknow modular enviroment.
In particular, one of the ensembles that comes with Reaktor Library, is become, maybe, my preferred soft synth: Weedwacker, a physiological model synth.
A polyphonic feedback oscillator capable of seriously chaotic behavior followed by a monophonic filter-distortion-delay.

Now, my little desire is to recreate a similar ENSEMBLE in my Scope Modular (II or III or/and flexor 1.5) enviroment, because I think that could sounds better, warmer and more customizable than a native soft synth (and because reaktor is not too cheap).

Well, the problem is that I’m a rokie Modular programmer, and that project seems to be a little hard for me...
This will to be an OPEN INVITATION to all Modular community to working all together.
If anyone has a little suggestion, opinion, a criticism, a section of the project done, a particular analisys, or other stuff related, is welcome and invited to share in this tread.

I’ve captured some JPG and some MP3 for a preliminar analisys of this amazing ensemble.

MP3 examples (1.77Mb)

The ENS has these macro inside:

- one “feedback” oscillator (?) that has DRIVE, RESONANCE, UP, DOWN, MAX, MIN, PITCH, SHIFT modulation controls
- noise
- tweakable vibrato
- 2 EG, one trough matrix to all controls, and one exclusive for filter (CUTOFF, SHIFT, CROSSFADE)
- one 4x8 matrix
- 3 free assignable TRIANGLE/PULSE lfo for matrix
- a velocity filter that features HP parallel to LP, VELOCITY, a tweakable CROSSFADE from HP to LP, a BP and a RANDOM CUTOFF option.
- A stereo independent syncro delay that fetures HP or BP or LP or XFADE input

That’s all...

Does anyone know what are a feedback oscillator and a velo filter???
Any suggestion?
Thanks to all

Mh, I've tryed to build Mod-wacker with Modular III but is too hard...
Maybe it needs a scope SDK develope because some component are too specific.
Unfortunately I have only 9 dsp...
The 2 main problems are the strange Oscillator and the multi-mode-tweakable Filter.
As matrix J9k's "m2 mat ng 8x8 2010p" is great!

hi erminardi!
as concerns velo filter, looks like a filter w/ velocity as mod source.FeedbackOsc: havn't listened to the mp3, but there are numerous ways in modular to create a fb effect, including of course the feedbackConnector module (ModulationFoilder) or the modulationSynthesisOsc module.Or maybe a distortion fx will do?Or just sync(Master+Slave Oscs detuned)? As for the matrix, I would use the VocoderMatrix instead of j9Ks if you just want to switch between modulation sources.
ps: I think the main problem when you want to recreate a specific sound of another synth isn't the availability of the moules but the fine-tunung of the parameters.

Thanks 4 the reply and 4 the hints
Now I will try with these solutions...
Nice work your site

Yes, the vocoder matrix could be a more easy choice, but don't feature, unfortunately, text labelling... howewer I will follow your hint.

He, he ... I said it once but the top notch Reaktor creations could be a huge source of inspirations for SDKers ( or DPers ) to go beyond classic designs !
I'd like more synths in the vein of John Bowen's Python Pro !!

as i know the vocoder matrix is monophonic

Hi, i tried to recreate the reactor patch in the modular and i have a few questions:
I suppose the eg2 macro is a pulse lfo is it right?, also on the 2ramp module osc the up -down parameters are the 2 boundaries of the pulse? I used instead a shaper but if anyone knows please notify, Also what are the up -down parameters (both on the osc and the filter- i didn't replicate them)
And finally what is that drive parameter? i just used a saturation module (fat sat). I 'll post the device the next days but all the sounds i could made where some strange noises (some of them interesting, and some noisy drones, but as i don't have the reactor patch to check the sound design capabilities of that particular synth i 'm quite on a blind road... The feeback of the oscilator plus the noise frequency modulation produces some interesting spectra but makes the whole thing quite unstable and it easily transform it in a big dsp hungry noise generator...

EG2 has a low freq osc that providing three different waveforms simultaneusly. The symmetry of the waveforms is adjustable by Width parameter.

Oscillator for ramp/pulse signal. Pulse width (W), up slope (UP), down slope (DN), logarithmic pitch (P), linear frequence (F) and amplitude(R) modulation.

Drive is a feedback loop driver.

Here other advanced pics about:

This synth seems to be very complex and a sort of hybrid from subtractive and FM sound generation. Sadly it's very hard to do for my skills, thanks for your support fra77x

Yeah, I think that a FM operator as sound generator could be OK!
It could sounding similar to weedwacker more than analog or other kind of oscillator.
Definitively weedwacker is a FM/subtractive hybrid synth...

I want to have a look/try on a convertion ,too. But I can´t find the weedwacker in my reaktor4 library, can you send it to me by e-mail please.
Weedwacker seems to be a reaktor3 ensemble and I can´t convert it to reaktor 4.

Thanks.

Thanks.
Weedwacker is a part of official NI Premium library 3 and I think that is a commercial product.
I cannot share this... sorry.
Howewer evryone can find it, maybe, in user library, converted from version 3 to 4.

Strange that Reaktor 4 users can´t use Reaktor 3 ensembles without having Reaktor3. Weedwacker isn´t in the user lib for Reaktor 4, only a v2 version and it is different from the original.

Anyway, I got a converted version for Reaktor 4 and will have a look on it.
