and no - this is not jazz!

very full, creamy bass, I like that. The jazz/dnb fusion style is nice too. Great way you took both essence and mixed them. The pitch bend thing definitely works for me.

There was a point in the tune where I was wondering if you wanted it to be a busy tune, or a chill tune.. perhaps you were going for a middle ground. Personally, I would have settled for the chill tune, and made the drums more light and dextrous. (so you could be busy and light at the same time)

you are absolutely right about the tune being in the middle ground - i was aiming for that - the pad provides the chill and the drums are a bit more upfront. my hope was that you could both chill to the tune and also get your head bobbing- depending on your mood and when you listen to it.

don't like the reverb on the drum (samples), specially during the drum intro.
along the song I get used to it, yet I would change it.
If it's a loop, slice it up in a slice editor, to differentiate that reverb over the editors VSTi outputs.
Anyway, great atmosphere

i'm glad you like the ambience, thats really what i was aiming at, after all it was only supposed to enhance the images. i am with you on the drums, there is a little too much reverb (i used masterverb pro).
the drums are not a looped, all programmed - some sequenced in cubase (and using sounds from the sts3000) and some in reason. I could try and justify the reverb because it does add to the dreamy feel of the piece - like you say, you do get used to it - but you are right - i know that i have a tendency to "over-egg" the reverb. i'll try and post a less verby mix.

at least I would be very causious with reverb on the bassdrum.
If you wanne use it, use a lowcut filter in the chain: you need the ambience, not the boom
not to include those special moments where you need that universe bassdrum...

Nice mood and sounds. Piece is out of context, (being for film), and probably so are my comments. The piano/vocal phrase caught my attention. I would have liked it at the intro, then repeated later.

This is too what I think.

I don't think the bass is too high, perhaps slightly too deep. But for the context where the sound is going to be release, "cinema", it should be good.

The atmosphere is real nice, enjoyable. Of course, I would like what is the plot onto it, becuase this makes things take a different mean.

Just put up a less verby mix, i think its got a little clip type sound in it at a couple of places that i cannot seem to erase - its not actually a clip cos it doesn't always happen in the same place when i was trying to record it to sound forge. Sorry the new mix took such a long time, and as always comments good and bad are welcome.
personally i think that without the reverb the kick comes through too strong.
Legros and Nestor - i don't understand what you mean by the accent on the oh and ch, could you be more specific - i'm probably just being thick!
