Hi!
I have a pulsar with scope 4.0 and when using itunes 4.71 for playing music, i get stuttered sound with chops and clicks.
The pulsar project is the default with asio and wave source. Perhaps it's because itunes doesn't support asio? I don't have problems with other apps. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm using xp sp2 with scope 4.0.
Other players like winamp work good,
but i don't want to leave itunes,
i think it's the best to organize and playing my mp3 library (yes i'm a mac user too).
Thanks for any tips.

if you don't use their shop - and can live without some 3d fx, have a look at

MP3 CD BURNER
I had the same idea about iTunes, but replaced it by the program above - check the demo
cheers, tom

Itunes uses background tasks and these cause glitches.

Itunes PC might be a problem - as I already posted. The shipped with gear software is highly problematic as you could proove by having a look at their forum as well as other technician forums.
You are now at the point to decide wether you want to work with your computer or to gamble around with it. It`s up to yours. Both things at the same machine will always bring you into trouble. Don´t forget - microsoft never intended windows to be a multimedia system.
Using a pc correctly :
Never expect an eierlegende Wollmilchsau
You are in need at least of three machines.
1 for gambling and Internet
1 for office
1 for music (ACPI deactivated)
Don`t forget Windows will never run stable when installign / deinstalling several kinds of software an system additions. In most cases you`ll find that a backup is very necessary. But that doesn't prevent from reinstalling windows at least every year from the first phrase.

...and me thinking, pc is way cheaper than mac...

those 3 machines will cost you less than one actual mac (except from the mac mini ...brr what a disgusting name).
Fact is, the macintosh has the far better OS.
And some hardware advantages (most problems on the pc are caused by hard- and software niot fitting the given standards).
But hard and software prices makes it less affordable.

nope ist a decision whether you are content with the standard only and being somewhat disabled or trial & error and spend most of the time just fiddling around with the computer. I didn´t see on machine which is able of Pro video editing + pro midiediting + office + games + networkserver things + 3d designing + audio editing, burning and so on. Never seen a single pc who is able to do that all tigether and I believe there´ll never be one.

rigoli,
Find out what drivers itunes uses. If you can use Wave Drivers instead of Directx, they should work better. If you see buffer settings there, play with them.
Let us know if that changes anything..

My PC does all these things. Its not even that new in terms of the PC market. Stop trolling =p
This is such a redundant converstion btw...

Yeah, using a single PC (p3-1ghz) for everything (which includes audio, midi, 3d, rendering, net stuff, games/online games, c/c++/asm dev) and it's fine. XP is pretty stable (pre-SP2 at least) at this point, it's really not a problem anymore.

Yea, especially as replies to someone's problem. A mac/pc pro's and con's discussion ain't gonna solve it eh.

Hi guys,
unfortunately i'm still here with my problem.
I've tryed changing settings in pulsar and xp but i still get stuttered sound.
So the problem could be itunes.
There's no way to change the audio drivers on it, only simple things like samplerate of converting mp3 or default directory etc.
If anyone knows more in deep where to find them in windows register i would really appreciate, but i think pulsar and itunes just don't work well.
Last one, i still think it's the best app for play and organize my big library. Ok i own also an ipod that integrates as well, but on mac it rocks.

Quicktime eh? This makes me think...
Its possible that your latency settings (for wav) in the Creamware control panel properties was set too low. Its a slider and its a bit buried--to get to it you need to go into device manager and/or the 'hardware' tab under "sounds and audio devices" in the control panels. Bringing up properties for your Creamware card (any card installed will do) will allow you to set the maximum number of software midi drivers available and change the WAV driver's latency, among other things. Most apps never seemed to have a problem with this but Quicktime always had problems (so did shoutcast recording) until I finally remembered to adjust this slider. Note that this may not be good for SONAR users still trying to use the WDM kernel mode drivers...(not sure about that though...?)

THANKS just had this same problem fixed after looking here.
On my QT, I have to check the Wave Safe box too, Creamware was my default (in Control Panel) but it needed that checking.
Now I can play Madonna on my PC!!!

I have set QT already for P2 & still get stuttering, distortion, like a sine wave doing it, usually after an hour or so; relaunchig it fixes it for a while. Sometimes it is OK all day. I have not set auto start QT.
I have just set the latency to be same as ULLI (25ms). It was 33ms. If works, I will not edit this post!
