Is there much between these two? The Oddity is supposed to be a very good emulation (better than the Pro 53 is of the Prophet 5 anyway) but I was wondering how good the Scope one sounds - wish there were demo's of these plugins.

Without wanting to rehash old arguments here's the deal:
it depends.

If your after an authentic Odyssey, then Prodyssey is not the synth to go for, as it doesn't have Duo Mode. This is important to some (like me), but not to others. This is where a demo would help. This is why i own Oddity.

i much prefer the CWA sound, but i really like the screaching harmonics you get in Duo Mode.

Also Prodyssey is polyphonic, which has meant some restructuring of certain 'circuits' - can't remember off-hand, i think maybe the Sample&Hold or Ring Mod work differently, certainly the Repeat function is different.

So Prodyssey does sound good, does sound ARPish, but isn't a totally faithful Odyssey replication. i already owned Oddity when it came out, so it was always going to take something special for me to buy it, so i never did. i do own Profit 5, Pro One, MiniMax, B-2003 and Vectron (aah, the joy of the half-price shop ) and love 'em all. i'm sure i'd love Prodyssey, but i have enough polyphonic-capable synths, so i would rather have the Duo Mode, but i'm an old fuddy-duddy so ignore me.

ahhh, memories - both the thread and the Prodyssey demo. Yes, there was a demo (once upon a time)...
For obvious reason I agree 100% with Mr.A

Meanwhile I have so many SFP synths that I don't even need presets anymore - I just switch to another synth (ok, literally...)
But the Prodyssey could do some very cool sounds - maybe it's time to add another preset...

Prodyssey has a AWESOME sound. Probably my favorite Creamware synth, all things reconsidered. Very easy to distinguish from Minimax or Pro-One / Prophet-5. Has a very spooky sound, also great for basses. I have yet to hear a VSTi that sounds as good as a Creamware synth - unless you really really need that duo mode, I would recommend Creamware's version.

Another Prod owner here Can only agree, a great sound. I don't have the VSTi version, but I do have another GMedia synth, the Oscar. If their Ody is as good then you won't go wrong there either.

i'm sure the oddity is great. i have the prodessey and i'd second every good thing said and then add an exclamation point.

for me its not a question of the emulation at all.
It comes down to sound quality, and imo the oddity sounds not much better than the average vst.
Even the worst of the cw synths sound better than most top vsts.

I own the Oddity for some time now and I really enjoy it, the sound quality is good enough to produce great tracks.

I really like the filter and resonance character of the Oddity, it makes the Oddity unique and a must have for me.

Hapless I can´t make any comparison to the cwa version but I am happy with the oddity.

This synth stands out in the group of creamware synths, it truelly does have the arp sound and it has a completely different vibe than any of the other synths available in the line up, which to me is a great thing, it really sets its self apart in a mix.

This synth is capable of so much and sounds so good I use at one instance of this synth in every production I do, as said the basses and great, and the leads aswell, also for some reason I am able to produce the most interesting wierd effect noises with this synth.

Definetely one of my favorites from CW.

I have tried the oddity but sonicaly I really did not think it was any match for the prod.

I have both softsynths and you can't really compare them because they emulate different revisions of the Oddyssey so they will have different characters. At the same time, I think Creamware analogue emulations are more accurate soundwise than all "vintage" VSTis I have, including the Oddity.

I heard really good things about that TimeWarp 2600 though. I may change my mind...

Yes, the CW one emulates the little-known polyphonic Odyssey.
