I have a system with Pulsar I and Luna II (7 DSPs). I'm planning to expand my system and I'm between Scope Project or Professional. Will 13 DSPs be enough for running a 48 channel stereo mixer to deal with my external effects and sound modules, plus some instances of Scope synths like Minimax, Profit5, Prodyssey, Solaris, Modular III with Flexor, a few EFX etc. I dont expect being able to run these Scope synths all at the same time of course, but it'd be nice to have at least 10 voices of polyphony distributed between them before the need to make a mixdown to save DSP arise.

BTW, buying a 6 DSP board instead of a 14 DSP one would allow me to get a Nord Modular G2 Engine also with a little more money ;-)

Thanks

welcome sergio

you probably won't need too many voices, (just let your ears decide), I guess 6-8 will be sufficient because the individual voices are extremely good - and this will be no problem with CWA's synths.
With Solaris and Flexor you could build extremely complex synth structures and may in fact run low on DSP resources. A solaris voice may consist of (something like) half a dozen oscillators and filters, so a 'numerical' 10-voice poly is really a 60 voice poly effectively
Btw you made good choices of the synths - nicely comlementing each other

You might run into trouble though if you'd like to include the latest STW reverbs and FX. The Pulsar One will get in the way of PCI transfers because it has a different low level IO, it can't keep up with the 'modern' boards and as such will be the weakest link in the chain.
Your best option would be to sell the Pulsar One and get a Scope Pro, thus making 18 DSPs.

The effects above are highly recommanded, and they'll give the synths an extra sparkle, and save some voices, too. Specially the CD100 chorus delay which comes with the plate reverb can make stuff extremely thick, broad and 'expensive'

cheers, tom

Thanks fo the reply Tom. Hummm... I cannot dispense all the I/O connections that my Pulsar I have right now. I'll have to try and see what's happen. Also, as I said, I have some nice outboard gear to handle more complex effects (Lex PCM90, PCM80, TC Fireworx) and I think my main DSP usage will be the big mixer (with his per-channel EQs) and the synths.

My real dillema is this: (Scope Project + Modular G2) versus Scope Professional.

BTW, are the Scope SRBs still being sold? (I mean, the cards without I/O and Software)

And last I'm planning a little ahead; I still don't have Flexor and Solaris. They'll be purchased a little later this year
