hello to all, anyone knows how a stereo expander works, what it actually do to a signal..

I would make it with an MS encoder, making the Side louder and maybe attenuating the Mono part a bit.

anyone knows the m/s proccess?. I know that it's somewhere in planetz but when i tried to form it in the modular i did something wrong. Can someone tell me how to connect these modules.

wasn't fasing tricks involved, in combination with time shifting technics?
The stereo basis gets broader with stereo enhancing

to encode m/s from l/r
you need to create sum of left and right for M(iddle), add2 or simple static crossfade works great for that.
for S(ide) you need difference ie you need to invert one channel (lets say left)
if you want to decode it back you need to sum M and S to get right and subtract M from S to get left then.
if you need to just adjust stereo width, then gain module in S signal path before decoder will do.
you can do stuff like put hi pass filter in S side, and later gain (or saturation) module. this will make bass completely mono and space out rest of the signal.
do you have mod3 or flexor? i will try to post example patch (you can find m/s in quite a couple of my patches on this site allready)

i can't do it. I tried to build the m/s technic but i seems that all the "s" sound dissapears, what am i doing wrong, i also found a modular with the m/s process but it behaved the same way (no S), Same behavor with Neutron m/s encoder, maybe i make a mistake when i connect these to the mixer? the only way to here a kind of S sound is to delete a cable and pan the source?

hmm,
i hope it is clear, that to use m/s stuff you have to have true stereo signal in the first place, ie left channel must be different from right channel.
if both channels are identical, then difference of them equals to 0, of course.
