Hi all,
Well this has just not been floridas month let alone year with these storms, we are still recovering from hurricane Frances, there are still over 1 million with out water and power from the initial 5.5 million that lost utilities. They have yet to even come close to cleaning up all the downed trees and home damage and here now comes a smaller but much more powerfull storm, hurricane ivan.
This storm thank god is moving west and hopefully it will continue on its path but we are going to get moderate winds with out a doubt, good thing I left my 2nd storie windows covered with the shutters incase this happened.
There are thousands of people still trying to get food, water, ice and gas with little luck, this storm if it does turn at the last minute and hit south florda would be absolutely devestating to this state.
I have lived in florida for the last 15 years and never have we had anything like this before, I dont believe in the history of the state has anything like this happened.
Hurricane Ivan is reported to slam Jamaica in the hours to come as a catagory 5 hurricane with winds speeds reaching 155+ mph with the posibilitie of becomeing more powerfull. A Catagory 5 is extremely dangerous, I hate for any one else to take the brunt of this storm but south florida is just not ready yet to take a beating like this while still very vulnerable from Frances.
Lets try and muster up those positive Z vibes and move this baby out to sea..
I tried today to get some plane tickets to atlanta but the airlines are raping every one, and tickets for a one hour flight are reaching price points of US$500-2000.00 round trip per person, so it looks like I either have to stay and hope for the best or pay those absurd prices.
Well, not much I can do but hope for the best right now, im sure my wife would love to take a trip for a few days to atlanta but to be honest, after not working now for over a week and my buisiness loosing so much income, the thought of spending a few thousand and locking up for another week makes me feel a bit ill.
Ill keep you guys posted, as it looks right now the forcast track is for the storm to move into the gulf of mexico and hit the west coast of florida, which means I wont get a direct hit like I did with frances, but it does mean a serious possibilitie of more downed power lines and more tree's uprooting, as you may or not know already there are multiple states sending in back up techs to help with the florida power issues, I can only imagine what this next storm is going to do as a catagory 5 or stronger.
*sigh*
Ill keep you all posted.
Cheers!
