What happens if this is disabled? Just curious

Windows 2003 Server has it disabled after a fresh installation. If it is disabled, no audio will play, no mixer and audio properties will be available etc.

You probably won't be able to use all except direct inputs of the Pulsar (Analog In/Out, MIDI In/Out but not Seq In/Out etc), but no other application will be able to use them.

If I disable it, the only thing that doesn't work is the midi drivers. Audio runs just fine w that service disabled.
Looking forward to get rid of Windows, although far most people in #Linux disencourage me to get to the 'beta' which is the ALSA project.
