My wife works at a nationwide private TV station called TVN. She works at a program called "Uwaga!" (Attention!). This is a program with reportages about economical affairs, doctor mistakes, peoples life, corruption, mobbing. My wife specializes in TV investigations like finding dishonest lawyers, corruptted government workers and doctors, not obeying the law by our shops etc etc.

Last month she discovered a slavish work at a very popular market network (700 markets!) - women pulling carts with 1t of goods, working 30h continously, extra working hours not payed etc. Of course at the beginning the management didn't confir it but after a month of prooving it with hidden cameras, talking to workers and ex workers they had to agree! So, the benefits of my wife's work was: 6mln PLN (1.3mln Euros) for new specialized equipment, our government started to constantly check for improper management behaviour.

Finally. There was an important nationwide economical reportage competition and my wife won it!!!!!!!!!! I'm really proud of her! Her work is dangerous, she gets many anonymous sms and phone calls with threats... But the benefits of helping people sets the balance

Congratulations to her. A difficult but important work, indeed.

She sure deserves a reward, recognition for her idealist work... Makes me think of Günter Wallraff's work Me (Ali), who went undercover as a Turk in illegal construction network in Germany, somewhere in the eighties. IMO there's an important role for journalists in that matter, to expose to the public ongoing organised abuse of people.

I hope it stays with phone/email threats and not real action... Strength to your family and especially your wife of course, so she can keep up the spirit!

Positive wishes for both of you.

atom|c - did you know, that Wallraff got cellulosis from the work - sad, that he paid for his work with a deadly lung disease
