For a change, I will post here my pleasant experience with the installation of a new Scope Booster board. I am acctually a little disappointed that I have not encountered any problems so that I could start a new thread in the problem area

So here it goes (some pictures are full res captures of my screen up to 1MB in size):
1.

First things first, the CPU heatsinks needed a little vacuming. These are copper MCX 603-V heatsinks from Swiftech (
http://www.swiftnets.com/products/mcx603-V.asp)
2.

After a good cleaning, a rigorous inspection followed
3.

Finally, everything was ready for reboot. The other two cards are two different video tuner cards.
4.

I decided not risk anything

, so I set the latency to 64.
5.

In Windows, I was a little surprised to find out that the new Scope board shared an IRQ with the system clock.
6.

And the final step, changing the boards number setting: now I have two
7.

Bliss!
8.

Check out the Windows Tasks Manager, 4 lazy CPUs (two virtual because of HT) doing nothing while I played Six Strings at 16 voices through MIDI.
Fantastic!

cool man, nice pictures, you have now "A BIG CW SETUP", which i also want to have

24DSP's
is there much of noise from all those coolers ?
i don't like coolers, i like silent

btw:
do you use any soft sequencer and which ?
i have pentium4 2.8HT , running cubase VST + some VST plug-s and some time ago a lot of freezes, could be VST plug-s + HT ?
i have tried all other options (disabling HT) and other stuff, but nothing really improve,
right now i have ACPI installed and no ACPI Multiprocessor and so far it's ok
just curious
thanks

Unfortunately, the fans are producing quite a lot of noise, especially the big one in the back (even though I run it at half its specified voltage to slow it down

). Because of that, I am using headphones that somewhat reduce that noise. In the future, I will build an isolation box.
I am using Orion Platinum as a sequencer

I don't have ACPI enabled I should have mentioned that, however hyperthreading is enabled.
What is your PCI latency setting?

right now is 32, but i'll change it to 64,since i read that somewhere here in forum, i'll see if there's any difference if using just ACPI (no ACPI Multiprocessor) and ASIO2 and Cubase VST,
will work on one track tonight, then i can test it in real mode

What's ACPI and what difference does it make to Scope?

You're using dual CPUs? Is there still an issue with PCI overflows and dual CPUs, or is that ancient stuff?

yo, yesterday i was playing with synths in sfp and vst instruments in cubase for about 5 hours and nothing freezes,
that's much better now,
i'm using now,
normal ACPI (no Multi)
SFP 3.1A
and no windows tweaks, just normal installation
and also i get much better results when recording midi in cubase with my USB controller midi keyboard, because i was getting delays beteewen recording notes and actually writting notes in piano roll window....this is fixed too
something was wrong for sure, before i install another time, and both time there was fresh install winxp,
maybe i can still install sfp4 back, since i'm suspicious to ACPI Multi option, but i'll leave 3.1A right now, since i don't see any big changes in sfp4, beside more polish graphich interface
my setup:
pentium4 2.8HT
mobo intel 865PERL
512mb RAM 400mhz
120gb WD SATA
winXP (ACPI)
gforce 2 64MB
CW Luna II
CW Luna II
CW Pulsar XTC
CW Luna 2496 Box
SFP3.1A
Cubase VST 5.0
Evolution USB Midi controller
other hardware:
Access Virus B
Monitors Yamaha MP5

I never had PCI owerflows, the only problem I had before, with Win2K, was that MIDI clock issue, where the system would freeze with an external keyboard sending MIDI clock messages.

fidox, you should not have installed the ACPI Multiprocessor driver without enabling hyperthreading on your motherboard.

You should at least upgrade to 3.1c; there were a lot of bugs fixed. But it really is worth it to upgrade to 4.0; I think there were some bugs fixed even over 3.1c.

Great setup

BingoTheClowno.
*PCI latency setting? is this the latency setting of sfp?? where can i see that? what is whole story of PCI latency?
*you're running 2 HT! can you tell your whole setup

*why you're on win2000 server? is it better than winXP?
*Classic Cat you have

do you have more picture of your cat?
thanks
edit: how much is SRB now?

I'll have to dig some other pictures with my cat.
The reason I used Windows 2003 Server was because it was the only operating system that supports more than 2 CPUs (8). If you look at the last picture with the Task Manager, you will see four CPU graphs. With hyperthreading enabled you get two additional "virtual" CPUs (my system has two real Xeon CPUs). So that's why I used Win 2003 Server, to take advantage of the HT and for speed (they say Win 2003 Server is much faster than Win 2000 Server).
PCI latency is in the BIOS.
I paid 1250.00$ for the SRB.

i'm confused how much is the SCOPE 14-DSP Booster Board? its not SRB right? only the dsp board without i/o. is it cost you $1250?
is there any cw delar over uk?

Bingo, XP Pro supports 4 Cpu's with HT enabled, because (unlike win2k) it is able to make the distinction between 'virtual' and 'physical' cpu's.
Microsoft's package pricing allows 2 PHYSICAL cpu's for XP Pro (or 4 including HT virtual ones) but to enable more than 2 physical cpu's you would need to move up to the proper version of Server (2003 server is a later version but follows the same pricing scheme).

Valis, I didn't know XP Pro supported 4 CPUs. To be honest I didn't even consider XP as an option after working with it at work. I was looking for the most stable and faster OS available that would run Scope.
Firubi, here's another picture of my kitty:
