hi!
it was once mentioned, but can't find it anymore,
can I use also old cable for floppy , 5.25" drive connector,
is this the same size like S-TDM cable connectors ?
am I correct ?

it's the same type of cable and the same type of connector,
but it's not the same number of pins
You get them from regular electronic suppliers, called flat-ribbon circuit board connectors or something like that.
Make them as short as possible with no 'dangling' ends (no wires beyond the connectors).
And if there's a choice, pick the best quality available (gold plated) - contact problems due to low quality material seems not uncommon with these connectors.
Probably better to avoid old parts at all.

Actually if the S-TDM is 20 pins, then they *are* the same as some *really* old floppy drive cables (from the 80s). And they're hard to find. My local electronics store sells the ribbon and the connectors, but I haven't seen pre-fabbed 20 pin cables anywhere.
Floppy drives have been using more pins (32 or something, if memory serves) for many a year now. So even most old computers don't have the right kind of cables inside.
If anybody finds a good source for pre-fab cables, please post! (I need 'em for a non-CreamWare project.)
