Nothing new here....it's all in the manual, but thought it was worth a mention here....
I've just moved my I/O plate from my Pulsar 2 to my SRB in order to make more efficient use of my DSPs:
This tip is to get SFP to correctly order the boards.....ie see the SRB (with more DSPs) as #1 board:
in CSET.INI add the following entries:
[board0]
boardid=1
[board1]
boardid=0
In a mixed system- Pulsar 1 + 2nd generation board(s), also add:
[HW]
numboards=2
for 2 boards (numboards=3 for 3 boards)

Thanks, I'm going to give this a try. I've been having lots of problems with a Pulsar + Pulsar 2 combination. Dropouts...lots of them.

I might be wrong, but is this nessessery?
I think it will do, if you put the best card into first PCI slot.
Then you get low latency, even if you use IN/OUT from second card.

I think it's useful if you put the IO on the card with the most DSP, so that there will be less needless traffic over the STDM bus.

.....which makes big reverbs eg STW Plate a lot more stable, and distributes DSP for big mixers more efficiently.
It also seems to confine all the Async activity to the SRB, leaving the original Pulsar for pure additional audio processing.
I'll keep you posted as to how advantageous it really is, but on first impressions, the system SEEMS more stable....watch this space

UPDATE:
I've been hammering my (rearranged) system for a couple of days now, and I reckon it's definitely been worthwhile......ooh it's so nice when it takes whatever you throw at it

It's been a while since I experimented with moving the IO board around, but I recall something about losing one DSP on my Scope SRB (from 15 to 14) when I mounted the IO board on it. Leaving the IO board on the Pulsar2 board gave me 6 DSP on the P2 and 15 DSP on the ScopeSRB.
Cheers,
Rob

Some problem desciption would definately help.
If you're still to try it, just put both in your machine and connect with an STDM cable...

I have now three Pulsar boards along with a UAD-1 and powercore.
Two pulsar II's and one Pulsar I
Here is how I did it to work perfectly alright.
[board0]
boardid=2
[board1]
boardid=1
[board2]
boardid=0
[hw]
numboards=3
I had to work it out with this numbers 2,1,0
Tried all combinations and most stable one was 2,1,0.
There pulsar II gets first
Pulsar I second !
and Pulsar II (second board) gets third
I have 16 dsps.
Only problem is that sometimes when loading big things sampler with many voices it has redistribute the dsp load but thats not a problem , some mouse clicks will do.
All cards (creamware) under 9 IRQ
Hope this helps...

Interesting reading especially as I have this in my cset.ini
[Host-Config]
Numboards=3
Board2=Host
I have SRB, P1 and Luna, in that order, SRB closest the AGP slot. P1 has the i/o board. AND all works fine, which is nice!

not an issue in your case, fidox.
