I know this won't make sense as v4.0 isn't exactly radically different than v3.1c

Having said that...

Ever since installing v4.0 I'm having all these small, but very annoying problems. While looping in Cubase SX the system gets very "glitchy", like it's hanging on something for a millisecond. Also, KickMe acts very funny. If I use my keyboard to play it I get two hits instead of one. One hit pressing the key down and then one releasing it.

Add these things on top of not finding various default DSP modules (I had to install 2 or 3 times until all the warnings were gone) and I'm not very confident. Going back to v3.1c didn't change anything.

So far I've:

1. Uninstalled / Reinstalled v4.0 multiple times
2. Tried going back to v3.1c
3. Reinstalled Cubase 2.02

Things I'm going to try:

1. Taking out USB devices
2. Checking processor affinity

Last resort: reinstall the OS ;(

This sucks! My system was essentially flawless before and now I have all these glitches in Cubase in which some of them cause it to crash. This is when I'm *only* using SX and Scope - no vsti's or native plugs - JUST midi via the built in drivers.

I'm thinking this maybe some sort of hyperthreading issue, that's the only thing I can think of.

Man... I don't want to reinstall the OS or all that BS. Everything was so good before. I'm kicking myself for having to go f*cking with things just to go and get "the latest".

Very quick observation...

I *think* this is related only to KickMe!

I never use any of the Creamware EDS drums (just don't like the sound), but when I plug this in instead of KickMe the glitches seem to disappear. I need to test this more.

Before Cubase would crash every couple min or less using just two midi tracks (no audio, no plugins, only two Creamware devices) and now it initially seems OK again.

BTW, I don't use XTC at all.

Can someone else using Cubase SX 2 and KickMe do some quick testing as well?

It has to be KickMe...

I've loaded up a project that maxes out my 15DSP's on 5 different devices with loads of live midi (which I hardly do). The midi is full drums, bass, pads and misc FX with lots of constant tweaks and streaming controller data. NO GLITCHES at all so far. This is 10x the amount of live midi to the Scope card that I normally use.

Now what could have changed between 3.1c and 4.0 that kills KickMe? I mean it literally causes Cubase to lock up every couple of seconds and then crash within 2-3 minutes.

This is practically my favorite device too!!

Put a MIDI filter before KickMe and filter the CC#. Your keyboard or so probably sends an 'All Notes Off' message which also triggers some envelopes.
