I am in the process of developing a series of plug ins for CW of a new type and enough revolutionary.

They will mainly be plugins of mixing and mastering (mixer, eq, compressor, gates): All that is not quite new you will argue!

The innovation lies in the midification of these devices... Indeed, until today, the plugins developed by CW are provenly midifiables, but for
controlling a 2448 mixer, one would need hundreds of controllers... one by function by track...

The plugins that I am developing are based on midi telecommandement/remote control. I am explaining myself: to control a plug of 16 mono Compressors, only 6 controllers are needed:
1 for the treshold,
1 for the ratio,
1 for the attack
1 for the release
1 for the gain and
1 for the selection of the channel...

Then, the remote control controls the 24 compressors...

You will have understood it that I seek beta testers having at least a midi control surface. The controller IS IMPERATIVE to have ROTARY ENCODERS (and not of the simple potary 0-127 - types Inc/ DEC) AND/OR MOTORIZED FADERS.
Numerical CAD consoles with motorized faders, modules like Doepfer pocket Dial RadiKal Tech S2K...

Thats it! Ofcourse, at least a Pulsar is needed too... The devices are likely to be heavy enough for some...

Please introduce yourself to me by Private Message or by contacting me at sonolive@wanadoo.Fr and specifying me the type of midi controller and
the CW hardware that you ve got...

I seek ten people, who will get, ofcourse, the final versions of the devices!

Hi Sonolive,

It's nice you do valuable work. But that doesn't explain you put the same info in 3 subforums. you won't get feedback any faster and even more, perhaps valuable for you info will be in 6 places! If there was only one thread you could have info in one place

Besides, this very place is intended for ready to use plugins and demos.

I'll be more than happy to test your new devices. I have a few different control surfaces. SAC2.2, Phat Boy, E-Mu Launch Pad, TASCAM TMD1000, TASCAM US428,M-Audio Ozone and 2 TASCAM DM24's cascaded together at the studio. I also have 3 15 DSP and 1 6 DSP Creamware cards. Only the SAC2.2 has assignable rotary encoders and motorized faders, The DM24's have rotary encoders, but they control various functions of the mixer and it also has motorized faders.

Just let me know if there's anything that I can do to help.

Mail him

Looks very interesting, this new development in MIDI implemention...

Good luck, and enjoy the trip

Hey, we have a SAC2.2 here at the studio, and we where never able to assign specific controler to rotary encoders, how did you do it?

BTW, i have the Tascam FW-1884, and for controling SFP, it's SO fantastic!

Are you happy with your DM24? I'm considering it as a replacement for my fw-1884? How about it's HUI mode? Do you have the firewire interface on them?

Sorry for OT

In the case of my plug in, you don't really need to assign pecific controller numeber to rotary encoder.
You use a basic preset and it is the CW plug that learn the Control number.

For the SAC2.2 I generally use it with SONAR or I'll put it in active, Mackie or slave mode to control various programs.

I really like the DM24's, I don't have the firewire cards installed, the are hooked up ADAT to the Scope cards.

Just a suggestion. Maybe the selector could be optionally on a rotary too, so you can use a cc to choose compressor. Sometimes changing channels is not easy enough on controllers. I am looking forward to seeing the new Behringer rotary controller. It is cheap and has nice features - but changing channels is not a onestep thing as far as I can see in the manual.

Hi Olive.

This is a fantastic idea!

What would be ideal in my books -- though I don't know if it's feasible: Implement a sort of "switchable insert" device. Let the user decide which plugin to place in which channel, as an insert. The user would also assign MIDI cc's to each device. Then all the "switchable insert" device would have to do internally is route MIDI messages to the currently selected insert device.

Anyway I think this is a fantastic idea. I would volunteer to help test, but all I have is my "MIDI fader box" DSP plugin -- no external hardware. So good luck with it Olive!

Cheers,

Johann
