I saw ir was renamed to "proTone" earlier, but now its gone from the shop... has yamaha reared its ugly head so much that it is now discontinued?

No, I think it'll reappear when they put up the new shop on (hopefully) Thursday.

I can't wait to get the new SFP 4.0. Does anyone know what's new, or what will be new? I'd like to get the Six Strings at 1/2 price, does anyone have it and what do you think about it?

Well, I'm not a guitarist, but IMHO the Six-String is about as close to a real guitar as you could get on a synth. I don't think CW's presets matched my playing style well enough, so with some tweaks I was able to get some very realistic sounds. I got a Jazz guitar, an Irish wire-strung harp, a pan flute (!), and a harpsichord. It has a very nice interface, and the sounds are VERY clean. It sounds extremely hi-fi.

It's fun! I'm sure you'd love it!!

CW told me also some things about the SixString...

the thing is that SixString bases on Physical Modelling... A complex signal like a Guitar or bowed string is very difficult to calculate in realtime so SixString is also difficult to handle it that way to achieve a realistic sound.. it is possible though.. CW got some complaints about the sound.. CW answered them in exactly that way i just write to you... SixString is worth its money.. no question. its one of the best Physical Modelling Guitar on the market... Sure the VST(i)'s Slayer and Slayer2 are sounding incredible as long as you use distortion.. but the problem ist to create a clean guitar.. and thats the dominanting feature of SixString when you know how to tweak it correctly

until then,
