i'm considering getting an ibook and wondering if it's possible to transfer files between mac and pc(my DAW) through a cable(firewire,usb)without burning a cd.regards.kris

if you run the iBook under OSX, then it sees Windows shared volumes automatically.
Just connect it with an ethernet cross-over cable if the network consist only of the 2 machines.
The TCP adresses must match of course.

For low volumes you could use an usb stick.

If using OS-X, make sure that in the Mac's 'Sharing' dialog box:

'Windows Sharing' is enabled (checked)

'Firewall' is OFF (or check the 'Windows Sharing' box under the Firwall tab).

If you don't have the special ethernet cable, it is much easier to run through a router if you have one... Otherwise follow their directions. I think you need to set up a workgroup in windows, and then enter it in OS-X too.
