Sometimes I do not like the live bar. I use too many devices for it to be usefull for me. So to me, it is just a waste of 1024*768. The trick, I am about to show, will let the live bar live under the routing window.

All you have to do is modify the cset.ini file (that is, what .ini-files are for IMO). I have so far found no problems by doing this. There may be some - this is after all not an official CWA trick. you do this on your own risk. Do ALWAYS take a copy of your .ini-files before modifying - and KEEP these copies for back-up. Ok, that is enough of the scarring. With a back-upped file, I realy do not see much of a risk. I don't have internet access at home, so I do this by memory - it is pretty fail safe though.

0) close SFP

1) copy the original cset.ini file to another location - this is your life line if all fails.

2) open the file - usually, it will ope with notepad.

3) find the place that says something about SFPTopLevel=100000 (don't be scared, there is only ONE place with such a huge number, and I may even have forgotten a 0. Most other stuff is rated at 2000.

4) change the number 100000 to 0.

5) save the file.

6) open SFP.

At least a useful tip for the livebar, thanks Immanuel I don't like it either (I mean the livebar) but sometimes it is essential. Especialy for polyphony and midi channel matters. But perhaps the tip of screensets will help! HAve to give it a try

I forgot:

When you use this trick, the live bar will have same priority as the routing window. This means, that the last used will be on top. If you have the routing window on top, you can see the live bar by pressing F9 (routing window on/off). When you load devices, the live bar may go on top again, but if you click the routing window, it becomes "last used" and go on top of the live bar.

Thanks Immanuel. Even when the livebar is minimised I still sometimes find myself moving the livebar around a bit to get it out of the way. Good tip.

Here's my observation (Mac):

The parameter is
SFPBar_TopLevel

After changing the value from 3000 (in my example) to 0 the live bar got the same priority as the routing window. In fact I think it got the "not on top" function (the button with two horizontal bars one red and one black was off) as each device I moved over it covered it (even if the livebar was above the routing window). After activating "always on top" and deactivating it everything went to its primal state (I mean not possible to cover the live bar with ANY device or window... It looks like Immanuel found a solution for REAL deactivating the "always on top" feature but it doesn't work after reactivarting it and then deactivating, uff. I hope you understand my complicated way of thinking

I usually just click the CW logo on it to minimize it. Good tip though for those who need it (i work on 1600x1200 on a 22" crt).

I understand you fine Samplaire. Unfortunately I can not see a way to prevent SFP from resetting to it's standard settings.

So it apears it is for people, who do not need to set the live bar to always on top - since it "ruins" the trick.

Set 'cset.ini' to read-only to prevent SFP from modifying it. Just beware that the startup settings u have now you'll always have once that's read only...

Nice tip - it will very likely freeze the "recent projects" list, but I can live with that.
