The wordclock connectors (called BNC connections) are used to sync different pieces of digital equipment through a common reference signal fed through that connection. Generally a master clock or device that acts as a master clock is used as the reference and all other devices "slave" from that clock. For audio, the clock typically specifies bit and frequency information (i.e. 24 bit / 96khz)
Sync can be done either through spdif, ADAT or BNC connections, but BNC is typically the most stable and consistent.

Hi Hub,
First of all, it's word, not world clock. It's used for a better synchronization, especially when you have several digital devices which you want to connect into a system, an external dedicated word clock master source would be the best way to do so, providing synchronization to all the "slaves". It's all related to jitter and how to do away with it. I'm sure some "tech" guys here can explain this more in detail.

It's designed for Synchronization between devices using a clock pulse. The clock tells all your devices to convert, sample, start, chase the master at the same time so they emit the audio at the same time and are following eachother like members of a band.

A thanks to each of you.
Got the picture now. "Word clock" gave me better results in my serch and I now know that the "world clock" is located in Denver, Huh? Thanks for the links as well.

hi, i have a question. i've got a pulsar 2 plus (slave) hooked up to a swissonic ad24mk2 unit (master). do you reckon a cw sync plate would give me better results (ie. reduced jitter, tighter sound etc)? at the moment the p2+ is slave via the adat connection.

Sync plate is very stable and I use it as master with A16.Has better crystal I suppose.
