I worked this patch on a concept that I found in a clever sample program (don't remember the name) of a snare drum, that was set to keyzones in a way that a center note ( C4) was the sample of the drum played in the middle, near the center of the skin, and moving towards C3 in a way and C5 in the other way, the samples where changing to those taken more and more near the drum's edges. The two opposite directions simulate the movement of the hands of the drummer, you can choose the position of the hit in a visual way, very confortable for playng snare on a keyboard.
This trick is made with some modules that are hidden below, I had hard time to tweak the settings to find a working bi-directional use of the note values as modulators for some parameters, and they should be left as they are.
The sound is full FleXor, I wanted something with pair dignity to put along the faboulous KickMe.
It uses 2 ramps shaped to tri-sine, as they have precise freq.setting, and two noise filtering circuits. Each part has it's own envelope.
To have velocity control on volume, considering that FleXor envelopes don't have level input, I used a Crossfade modulator with an empty input, modulated by velocity. It provides perfect offset and intensity controls....
Usually last unit (noise B) is for the snare springs, it has also a small lfo to animate the amplitude of the noise, for very realistic results.
This patch started with snare drum, but can do a wide range of percussive sounds. I've included few presets in separate banks. It makes also great kicks, with the benefit that you could add some snare resonance, as it was played in a real set. Cymbals and hats can come out too, although the opening of a hat can be done with velocity, not the best way, but this is a snare patch!
Enjoy
