Suppose there's any plans for a CW version?

A band I was in once owned one of these (amongst a mountain of other stuff).

The 101 had just one thing going for it: it was small and you could play it like a guitar. The real version had a stubby little handle with a mod wheel...

You still looked like a desperate goose wearing it, but at least you could wander around.

But generally we all (an all-synth band) thought that it was a bit of a joke since the range of sounds out of that machine was pretty sparse. When it came time to record it never got a look-in. It was a mobile machine, not a 'sound' machine - ( although the portamento seemed to have good 'timing' )

This is not to say that this emulation is no good. And certainly tastes change. Nor does simple = bad ! Maybe this will appeal to the same crowd that can never seem to get enough of 303 emulations

Just my memories of the days of real 101s...

I bought a real 101 in '95 for $75 that was in absolute mint condition. The person I bought it from was impressed he got that much for it! It had been sitting in a closet for years and years.

I had it for about a year and sold it on Ebay for $350 which was fair at the time.

Looking back, I didn't need the money, I wish I had kept it. It does do some very cool sounds and was a joy to use because of the simplicity. It's the synth that taught me the principles of subtractive synthesis and concepts of how all synths work in general.

Oh well. I'd never pay the $500-600 mint condition ones are going for these days.

Funny how those things work. It's like when desktop publishing gave everyone access to crisp fonts - suddenly everyone wanted the misaligned "smudgey typewriter" look.

I know several people that swear by the sh-101 for their basses. I had one a few years ago on loan from a friend that he had modded to recieve midi and added external control over several functions, a new waveform and
he also had a nice little mini "modular" patching system on the front panel.
