Hiya,

Would it be possible to split my setup ?
Let me explain: I got a Pulsar II, PowerSampler and Luna II, all connected by the STDM cable.

What if I disconnect one of them, like the Pulsar II for example and use the PS + Luna II in SFP mode and the Pulsar II in XTC mode. Would this be an option ?

Thanks in advance,
Ronald

Sounds like fun.

Multiple pc's are certainly an option.

not exactly - only one Adat connection is present
and it would matter to which board(s) the the software is registered

Thanks for your answers,

I thought it wouldn't be possible.
Just wanted to hear you opinions before I opened up my system.

Thanks again
Ronald

PS the multiple computer certainly is an idea, I guess I'd go for a RME Hammerfall in that case to link 'm up via ADAT.

Build myself a new DAW and use that only for VSTi-s and FX ? Not a bad idea at all.

This is exactly what I was thinking of suggesting and there are several other users around who do/have done that. The hammerfall is nice because the control software allows your adat i/o from the Creamware cards to be either routed through the hammerfall breakout box (Multiface?) either into the pc or out to the rest of your studio/mixer...

Well,

I guess I'd use the other computer as one large FX rack indeed. The ADAT lightpipe will be the best multi-channel option for this. Since I went all digital and ditched my analogue gear a year ago, I'll use Logic + LogicControl + the main outputs of Pulsar to my monitors. This way it will still be one system with no AD/DA conversions.

That new machine will be faster and more powerfull, sure, but I see no reason to rebuild my current DAW it does the job just fine.

Hyperthreading and dual processors aren't Creamware's biggest friends, but I'll have a look on the RME forum to see if this is a problem with their cards. If not, then maybe I'll build myself this dual Xeon 2,66 at the end of this month. Nice early X-Mas present I'd say

Peace
Ronald

ht is not happy it's true, but dual processors are no problem here.

Same here, my dual Xeon has been in operation almost 2 years now and the only complaint I have is that the damn cpu fans are the only thing I can't quiet without using a hacksaw on these wind tunnels to make Zalman etc fit properly. Someday I'm going to get around to building a 3-pc ventilated case so the 3 pc's in here are just a non-issue for white noise.
