I'm applying for graduate school at Univ of Indiana (MIME program), Cal Arts and some other schools. The MIME program at Univ. of Indiana is really cool, with its studies going into composing for interactive media and all... just that I have absolutely no information what Indiana is like. Cal Arts.. well, it's just north of LA downtown so I can kinda imagine cuz I've been in that area. Indiana? None.

So, I'd be greatful if anyone could give me some pointers as to what Indiana may be like. I'm also applying to IUPUI (Purdue).

I live in the Chicago area. Indiana is in the same geographical part of the country. Cold in the winter, hot in the summer, mild in the fall & spring. You'll need winter clothes if you don't have them already.

The cost of living in Indiana is much lower than California. That much I know for sure. If budget factors into your decision, that might have a bearing. Can't comment on the school. Anyone else?

I am also from Chicago, and as Indiana is our next door neighboorhood, I'd say make sure you check out the campus first. Indiana is not necessarily a mecca of culture, and it has a nasty habit of being overrun by industrial parks and smelters. Gary comes to mind... that's where Micheal Jackson is from.

Also, if you smoke, cigarettes are super-cheap in Indiana, whereas it's incredibly expensive in California, and you can't smoke anywhere. I don't smoke anymore myself, but it's a lifestyle issue that is quite important for some folks.

thanx for the tips guys.. only makes me wish I could just walk on over there to check the place out.. not enough time, and too expensive. Man, people thought internet would bring the whole world together. But it doesn't change fact that I'm still physically too far away!!!!

Yeah - I wouldn't want to insult anyone from Indiana but Indiana isn't exactly known as the breeding ground for top notch musical talent. If you want to surround yourself in a musical climate, California or New York may be your best bet. I know there are some good schools here in Chicago too with a lot of theatres and such (I think Chicago is the third largest city in the country).

Good luck whichever way you decide to go.

Letterman is from indiana.. somehow that state managed to produce one of the world's greatest entertainers so it can't be all bad
