Hi everyone

Can anyone recommend a drum sampler that's fast to use for pitch and ADSR envelope?

I'd like something like Native Instruments Battery.

Any suggestions?

Why not use Battery itself? It can't be beaten for easy drumsampling (well ok,DR-008 or that new Linplug thing do similar things)and you have the joys of sample-accurate drumtracks, something which you could not achieve with a SFP or external sampler.

I didn't realise there was midi timing problems with SFP.

I want to use the SFP effects with my drum samplers and it's a bit messy using VST samplers when you have to route the signal out then record it back in.

Perhaps SX 2 will help with this.

Does anyone use DR-008?

Seems somewhat limited in comparison to Battery, though. I couldn't see any mention of being able to layer samples, there's only 11 instruments and four separate outputs.

Personally, I find that approach quite elegant...that's how I work with Battery.

Maybe demo both drum machines and see what works best? Have you tried using the STS sampler(s) for drums, btw? (Not my fave cup of tea personally).

for sampled drums I used this SDS sometimes.
An old device but nice, also it has a filter section.
Hope you find this useful somehow.

The timing problems are midi itself, not SFP. When you're used to only software/sample accuracy can be a bit of a surprise to learn that...

It's actually rather easy. You can have multiple outs in Battery going to multiple busses in the cubase, so you can have your drums on seperate asio channels coming into SFP for further processing (Vinco!:D).

That D mute plugin also has a drum synth section. I should demo it but I have to be organized because the demo only lasts 4 minutes.

Also I don't care about sepearate outputs because I can just load another copy of the plugin.

Battery is good but it doesn't have filters and I don't need layers for my drums just dirty beats and compression.

I also need fast and easy work flow.

Then the SDS could be the best free solution for you,R-type. Tell us how it works for you!

I agree, the SDS is a very cool device. It's lite on DSP & very quick to work with.
