Hi Z!

I don't know how many of you are using the VDAT, but i have a question:

Does anybody would feel the VDAT would be more usefull if it was midi controlable?

And how?

With MMC command from a sequencer or a control surface? Or with midi CC assignable to button?

Or a combination of both?

I've been using VDAT for a year or so now. Can't record on anything else. But i really miss the integration with DAW like all other sfp devices.

What are you guys think of this? Would it be difficult to implement? I don't think so, but hey, that only my guess!

Vdat is not midi controlable? That means no automation or real-time midi manipulation? That sounds strange to me... We could ask cw to please fix this...

Eliam : No, it's not midi controlable. There is no midi input on the brc-128.


GaryB: Yeah, that's what i tough. I can easily imagine having total control over the BRC-128 from a control surface like a Mackie, transforming the Mackie + SFP in an integrated recording desk. That would be awesome.

i dream of something this for a loooong time now. please CW make it come true . BTW won´t buy VDAT >without< MIDI control, that´s for sure.

The VDAT is supposed to be controlled by the VRC-123 or VRC-S. Last time I checked VRC-S had a midi-in connector. I do not know what it does though. It is not present at the VRC-123.

Midi input in VRC-S is for controlling buttons with midi messages.

Sequencers that support ASIO2 are sample accurate syncable to the Clk0 output, the same you connect V-DAT to. You have to connect it to the corresponding ASIO2 dest. input. Sync parameters must be the same.

It outputs also MTC from Mout, for Drum machines and other midi devices.

So it's completely syncable with ASIO2, and other midi stuff, if you use it as master.

Thanks Alfonso, but the VRC-S is not enough to use efficiently vdat. I constantly have more than one vdat (16 track or more). And also Logic doesn't sync to Asio. Cubase do but Logic need to be controlled by the midi mtc output of vrc-s or vrc-128.

Also vrc-S doesn't respond cleanly to midi cc.

But yes, this is approximetly what's missing in vrc-128.

For exemple, i could assign record arming button to CC# and play/stop/rewind/forward and record button could respond to MMC command. So it stay the master, sending MTC to logic or other soft, but still be manageble from a seq.
