Someone here heard on the grapevine that Apple may be testing a version of OSX on an AMD processor...

you guys never seem to get your thirst quenched logic for pc is dead? no it's not, we still have an amazing piece of software available to us... what could they possibly have added to their soft that would dramatically improve it? more VSTIs? more tracks? better effects? It's true that cubase or mac users will be nagging logic/pc users but what else has been lost? dunno, maybe it's just me but I will still be using it for a long time even though the product has been sunset. Cheer up people, there has been worst days before (remember working on a 4track cassette deck )

Yes, fair points, but humans are emotional creatures and the power of perception, and feelings are everything.

- Sure it will still work, but it will likely never improve on your system
- At the same time you will be able to peer "over the fence" and see the exact same product improve in all sorts of ways you'll never get to use. Feeling good ?
- If other great products, standards, developments, or innovative instruments come out that require an updated driver or other "small" programming update, you'll never get it
- The mere fact that you know - someday - you will have to abandon either your program or your preferred OS. There is no smooth path.
- The sense that in some way you have been betrayed, the feeling that your expectations for the future have been disappointed.
- The knowledge that you use "abandonware" and the feeling that there will be no useful communication with your product's developers. Some people feel CW is a bit mute on important issues - how would it feel to know you'll never hear anything ?
- If you're running a professional or semi-professional set-up and have clients, Logic isn't going to add to your image !

These are some of the reasons why (for some people) the mere fact "it still works" is not enough.

Spirit, I can certainly not argue with any of these points but you said it, feelings are everything; and one way of getting those for me is to focus on music, not on the tools to make it. Of course for pros i can understand the issue.. but im just an ordinary jack and couldn't care less about emagic, or any other music product manifacturer...

Seriously though lads & lasses - I feel your pain. I was this close to buying Logic myself as an upgrade path away from 3DAT. Now I will have to look elsewhere and wonder if the next program that I zoom in on will be around tomorrow.

I've calmed down since yesterday, its happened and there's nothing
anyone can do.Thinking about it, as long as apple don't fuck it up
and dumb it down, it is just possible a Mac and Logic could become
the most solid and reliable DAW so far, maybe....

I'll carry on using LAW for a long time,

This should have been a great time for me This saturday I ordered a scope SRB, wich actually stresses my budget quite a bit for the nex year - I just wanted the freedom to work (wich I didn't feel with 4DSPs - different people - different temperaments). Even if a crossgrade option came by, I probably will not be able to afford it. I have this hardly used Logic gold... I find it a steep learning curve - now I will have to do it twice. If I had ordered a Pulsar2 I would have been better of right now :/

Cheer cheer, Crossgrading is about EUR299/USD299.

For the price I paid for Logic 5 Plat, and now, considering crossing over to Cubase because I am able to keep my Logic, I would spend about what the MSRP for Logic is - and I get the best of both worlds! What a deal!

Although I know what you mean about all this spending 'er "investments" are...

It's a money sinkhole I tell ya!

But, you really don't need to spend on everything you see - it's all a mind game. If ya have what works best, then, use it!

I tend to get into the specs game myself thus making me focus on the tools, not the music!

$299 for an inferior product on top of paying for Logic doesn't make me feel any better Z Station....

I think this is the right time for a Creamware sequencer. Why dont we all push
in that direction.

I might have an unpopular opinion here, but I really hope Creamware DOES NOT make a sequencer... DSP products DSP products DSP products.

We can use Logic 5 for a while longer but eventually when Microsoft creates a new OS that will be the end of it, also I have had to buy 3 midi interfaces in my life, MOTU, Opcode, and finally Emagic. I thought I was getting a state of the art MIDI interface which would give me superior timing for years to come. I am sure that Apple's aquisition was known for a while within Emagic. If they told me when I was shopping for an interface that Apple was going to buy Emagic and discontinue the Windows line I can assure you I *never* would have bought my amt8.

I love the Apple ads showing people who bought a pc but were too stupid to figure out how to use them.

The new slogan for Apple ought to be:

"APPLE COMPUTERS... THE COMPUTER FOR MORONS".

I went down to the local synth shop and they explained to me that the reason Apple is dropping the windows line at Emagic is because although windows users are 35% of the users they take 85% of the customer support. That has got to be a blatent lie otherwise why does Stienberg continue to offer a windows version of Cubase at the same price as their Mac version?

Apple complains about unfair business practices but they are total hypocrites! We have to suffer simply because the Apple computer company hates Bill Gates.

Most Apple users I have met are stuck up snobs and now I have a good reason to hate Apple.

Apple Computer... the company that can magically delete 35% of the Emagic userbase!!!

Well, I caught myself hoping that the guys that are on the Windows-platform at Emagic will go out the door and make their own sequencer.

A sequencer on this level is a quite complicated piece of SW, so they probably dont' have the same guys sitting and writing code for PC and MAC ?

A futile thought perhaps, but I have to admit I am just a little bitter at the moment, waiting for so long in anticipation for 5.x gold.

I know, I know, it's not in the tools, but still...

Actually, I'm most bitter over the break of faith.
When I buy something in this pricerange, one of the things I try to access is longevity of the company and/or product, and the seriousness involved, chance of service in years to come etc.

I happily noted somewhere when I bought the darn thing, that Emagic was heavily involved on both platforms and had a firm policy of continuing to be so. Yes, already at that time I also noted that the mac-side was probably stronger, but who would have guessed.....

Because none of those things hold their value....

Would you be so self righteous if the table had been reversed? What if Microsloth had purchased Emagic, and cut off the Mac userbase? Would that have even mattered?

Do you really hate Apple?

Let me ask you this:

Name a task that you can accomplish on a PC that a user cannot do on a Mac. Give an example of how your PC enriches you life in a way that no Macintosh can.
Name the vastly superior resources you have at your disposal that inherently makes Mac users *morons* for not taking advantage of them.

In the end, they are both just tools. Man,....do painters argue over which brushes are the best to use? No. I don't see why a choice of computer platform gets so many people impassioned to the point of name calling.

Whatever.
