I was under the impression a properly optimised DAW is optimised exactly because it is NOT using the efficiency cores, and not the other way around.
Why ?

Fake news ?

UA Luna wasn’t mentioned, but looks like I’ll be sticking to my M1 for the time being.

Not using E-Cores on Windows O/S DAWs would be a utter disaster since most of the i7 and i9 Cores are E-Cores. Only 8 Cores out of 24 Cores are P-Cores on the intel i9.
I don't know much of anything about MAC M2 E-Cores but on Windows the Intel E-Cores do much more than just run the O/S, Antiviris, etc but handle anything that is Lite duty. Plugins in your DAW that are lite on CPU load qualify for E-Cores. Anything that is low in power demmand can run on E-Cores. Atleast that's how i understand it.
Logic not using E-Cores plus many software programs not running on M2 yet means that 'the grass is'nt greener on the otherside'. For Laptops M2's are by far superior in power but for Desktops intel competes just fine, and the i5/i7/i9 are more than enough power for Audio. If for some strange reason the intel CPUs were not enough CPU Muscle just tack on a Waves Soundgrid Server and you'll have enough to power a small planet. I have a XITE-1 and a i5 12600k and don't know how i'll ever need half of the power of this rig, and i work at 96khz project samplerate with some high demmanding plugins.
The M2's are a thing of beauty and true Juggernauts, but Apple's constant changing of O/S and Processors scares me off. Plus some of my Music gear such as Sonar and SCOPE are Windows only, add that fact with Intels Desktops are Alien-Technology wich has no problem taking us into the future. SCOPE XITE-1, UAD Apollo, Waves Soundgrid, etc can make up where Computers have weak points creating a Music-Power-system that's strong on all fronts!

Sounds good @Sounddesigner. Now also UA Luna 1.6 is here and it will run on Windows ! Luna for Windows after all these years (public beta) ! That will make it easier to use with Xite on same machine, will be interesting to test whether Luna can use Scope driver directly or only by ADAT. Either way, having the x6, octocore PCI, 4 core Sattelite and Xite 1d on the same i9 machine should be enough power

. Sessions will be cross compatible, so projects I’ve started on the Mac can be worked on the Wintel box and vice versa.
Too many options these days …

UAD touts the "tight integration with Apollo" interfaces as a big part of Luna, would be interesting to see if it simply works with any ASIO hardware. Since there is a free tier of Luna for download, that seems possible but I would wonder if it defaults to a lower set of features in that case (non-Luna ASIO).

I think Luna can work without an Apollo already on Mac (it has Core Audio and ASIO modes
https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articl ... ntegration ) e.g. for the Volt range of interfaces. At the moment I'm not in any rush to get it going on Windows, other than for Xite integration, so will await a more stable release post beta. Maybe in a few months time.
Also from release notes :
"Do Apollo Thunderbolt features work on Windows?
All but one feature of the advanced LUNA integration with Apollo works identically between macOS and Windows. The missing feature on Windows is ARM (Accelerated Realtime Monitoring) mode for virtual instruments. On macOS, virtual instruments automatically run at a lower buffer size in ARM mode. On Windows, this may be possible but is not as easily achieved, so this feature is not currently cross-compatible. To achieve low latency with virtual instruments in ARM mode under Windows, manually reduce the ASIO buffer size."

So it looks like they have also long since fixed the 512 buffer fixed size. Good to know, it might be useful to use the free version for some tape sim processing and light mastering at some point.
Between this, Reaper & Resolve free, things look fairly good for simple home uses.

Well, I rarely use ARM since I do 99% of sequencing in Reason still, I’ll usually just test that new VI’s work in Luna and use ARM just to audition them. Test driving so to speak. Tape sims I have on buses only, I remove them from tracks when Luna put them there by default.

Reason 14 is dropping this May. A much needed GUI and Workflow improvements for the DAW side of it, and more. Major graphics improvements wich is great for those of us with poor vision. More of a Track workflow like other DAWs with each Track having its own Modular Rack. It seems to be modernized while still keeping the strenghths that make Reason unique. Reason gets upgraded on average about every 2 years, the last time being June of 2024. 2 years is a good cycle unlike the old Cakewalk who rushed and upgraded Sonar every 1 year, leading to bug problems and too little major under-the-hood-work, and tons of frills and gimmicks IMO..

I now bought the v13 upgrade since I was on latest v11 and on Win7 SP1 x64 up to now.
Will have to upgrade my main DAW to Win10 Pro x64 at least,- so I didn´t install.
Do you use RSN v13 w/ Win10 Pro x64 and SCOPE v7 x64 ASIO currently?
Does that work perfect,- especially the ASIO driver usage?

With regard to Reason-DAW Asio and SCOPE; I'm on Windows 11 and IT IS UNSTABLE. Past versions worked fine but something got broken along the line with Reason 13 on my system.
It has'nt been the end of the world cause with Reason-DAW i only jot down initial ideas and beat with it and my Headphones wich have their own drivers, then after i prefer major composition and Recording in Sonar with SCOPE. This has been a necessity since i can't see too well visually in Reason. The Reason-DAW graphics and lay-out looks like it's from 1999.
That's why Reason 14 is VERY important to me and i'm hoping all is fixed and improved to a good enough degree with regards to GUI colors/contrast, Lay-out, and Asio, as i wish to do everything inside Reason-DAW.
Verdane did not do that great of a job developing Reason, too little on DAW and plugin improvements, even tho the Reason plugin is still killer IMO. For a while Verdane even increased the prices sky-high even tho the development of Reason was low amount. I am gratefull they kept Reason alive and slowly moving in the right direction, since Reason like SCOPE is amongs my most important gear.
I hope LANDR does a better job, they have lowered prices and this v14 Upgrade may be just what i need to get full use out of Reason. I don't have high hopes since i don't trust what's going on out here with vultures buying up smaller companies, just hoping they do enough.
LANDR already seem like they have a bad vision for Reason and their acquisition was just to get a platform for their AI Mastering and distribution as that's the direction they stated they are looking to take Reason. AI Mastering is more of a tool for Engineers and IMO Reason leans heavier on the Creative side as it is a creative and expererimental Electronic Music juggernaut. They stated they want it to be a complete enviroment so it may work but i certainly would have to see all the pieces. I suspect however this is another case of another corporation buying a Audio gear app/platform and trying to make it be something it's not. Just using it to sell their other products much like Roland used Sonar to try and sell it's hardware. Their vision for a DAW is messed up when they are just trying to use it for something else.

That´s what I feared !
Everything worked here,- Win7 Pro SP1 x64, Reason 11.x, Scope v7 64Bit ASIO.
And Reaper works w/ Scope ASIO always.
Studio One 4 (latest) didn´t already,- so I started using RME Raydat (and Babyface) and everything was great then.

I doubt "Reason ASIO" is the culprit in regards of ASIO problems when using SCOPE/XITE as the main audio interface.
I guess its´ the SCOPE ASIO driver itself and since Win10 x64 is in use.
And I expect Win11 to be a never ending job site in regards of MIDI and ASIO since Microsoft started to implement MIDI 2.0, their own multiclient MIDI driver(s) and will implement their own (multiclient) ASIO driver soon.
More surprises to come for month or years now.
I hope LANDR makes the Reason Rack MIDI-multitimbral,- already loaded devices responding to their individual MIDI channel info on demand,- soon !
Might need individual MIDI channel selectors for each Reason device as an upgrade, I guess.

Off topic but......
Presonus? Studio One 7 is latest (actually version 8 but they renamed it Fender blah blah blah)
I have a full license that came with a StudioLive mixer and have been running Studio One 7 with Xite on windows 11 since last summer.
No problems with Scope ASIO.

1.)
I meant,- latest build of Studio One v4 !
2.)
From there, I got issues on my system,- not to forget to mention the issues when running standalone versions of plugins w/ Scope 7 x64 ASIO,- Arturia, IK Multimedia and others (which wasn´t related to Studio One at all).
3.)
The only hosts notshowing issues were Reaper (up to the latest version v7.x and builds !) as also Reason 11.4 latest build.
I dunno what happens when installing REason 13 and near future 14.
That´s why I was asking above.

Got Reason 14 yesterday. Different colors - maybe more contrast . Love the new folder tracks. Haven’t really delved into anything else.
Luna is where I could really use the folder tracks.

I was'nt even aware Reason 14 had been released until about 2 days ago, i seen no release Marketing. They must have reduced their Advertisement budget

..
I bought it yesterday and it took a long time to download, must have had a lot of new purchasers.
At a quick glance the Workflow seem greatly improved, the DAW seems sectioned off better and a better overall lay-out. I wish they would've did more visually with regards to contrast, but there mighr be enough for me to now work more in Reason-DAW, time will tell.
I have'nt tested Reason 14 with SCOPE Asio yet but i did contact Tech Support a few weeks ago and used their Reason 13 Logging app and sent them my crash LOGs since i knew a new version of Reason was about to be released.
The new RV-9 Algorithmic Reverb Station lookss interesting, especially the granular-reverb. But many of its different reverbs sounded pretty good on their website. Glad the Upgrade only costed $99.

I got it via grace period and haven´t installed RSN14 up to now.
Please let us know if it works flawlessly w/ SCOPEv7 64Bit ASIO or not.
I´ll have to upgrade my main DAW machine´s OS 1st and before I install Reason 14,- and also in the past, I always waited for Pheads´ 1st maintenance update after a major release.

Well they just released the first update for v14. I didn’t pay much attention to what was in is coz nothing was broken that I use it for.
