hi,

as I'm associated as freelancer to CWA I don't know that exact details myself thus I can't give an official statement without having talked to Frank in that matter - I'll do this tomorrow (on Friday) at Musikmesse in Frankfurt. As soon as I'll have returned (maybe around 09:00 pm) I'll post the result of my talk to Frank here. Please keep in mind for now the days just before the Musikmesse had been very, very busy and as far as I can imagine the point (or question: who in detail is entitled to what extend of update?) just slipped through as to insiders within CWA it seems to be quite obvious. I'm working in my own editorial office near Bonn thus I do not meet the guys at CWA that often. Tomorrow morning I'll get up quite early (05:30 am) for the trip to Frankfurt.

so long for now

I can't believe how many times this has happened. Everytime CW bundles new plugins with their hardware, everyone expects to get them for free. But it if works the way it has in the past, the software is simply a software update: your plugin keys remain the same. I wouldn't expect to get new plugins, why should CWA hand out free money?

Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus...

I'm stoked to see all the new changes and happenings at CW. The green motif is appropriate: a sort of rebirth if you will. The timing is appropriate too. Spring. Again - rebirth.

Also appropriate that John should be the first person profiled with an in-depth interview. Way to go John! Thanks for keeping the dream alive.

Rock on!

I am sure you are correct. The information on the web site is confusing to current users though since it is all geared toward new users and what is included in their 4.0 package.

I think it is confusing becausing the wording talks about what is included in version 4.0 rather than what is included with each card. It makes it sound like the plugins are part of the software update rather than a bundle that comes with a card purchase.

Everything would be much simplier if they included a statement to current users explaining what you did in your post, something like:

You can update to all the new general features/enhancements included in 4.0 for free, but your devices currently registered to your card will not change. If you want the new devices, you must purchase them for your current card, or add a new card to your system and get them bundled with that card.

There is no more Pulsar so the names of the forums ought to reflect this. I had this idea since the SFP was first released.

John, your site needs to be updated.
Yeah, I suppose you're right. Kindof sad really, after so many years

It's not pulsar. It's not even SFP anymore. It's just "Scope platform".

I'm so used to "planet z pulsar pages" that "planet z scope pages" just sounds wrong...

Another thing I noticed, is that I couldn't find mention of "XTC" anywhere on the new site. Either I just missed it, or they've renamed it?? For now I'll just assume that it's still called XTC.

Anyway, I'll make some changes soon!

Cheers,

I don't think there's an XTC at all anymore. I think it's history. It's about time.

naa XTC is good, new plugin delay compensation and all that. I hope it stays since it's important to me.

Regarding all this about free devices with Scope 4.0: I really don't think it is the case! The complete package is for new customers, and the Scope 4.0 will be free to download for current customers. Anything else doesn't make financial sense (and let's not forget it's the financial picture that led to the bankruptcy!).

Thank you for your honest explanation and openness. A post like this is plenty for me to "be able" to wait some more before getting an answer.

As far as I understood, it's called 'VST Sequenzer Integration' in SFP4. One thing I'm happy about: they don't sell the XTC as a separate card anymore.

The XTC is refered to as a 6DSP SRB now.

Does the XTC card work like the old one did, where you could install the 6 DSP XTC and use what ever other I/Os you had in the box?

Cheers!

The XTC was earlier marketed as both a DSP effects card and an SRB. My initial thought is that the cards are exactly the same, so yes.

By the way, why is the STM-1632 screenshot on the new Web site the old, ancient Luna Mixer? The one before true stereo channels were invented?

Also, the STM-2448 mixer looks like the original 3.0 version of PulsarMixer, even before 3.01. The colors aren't as good -- the channels are too dark.

I think CWA needs to redo a few screenshots...

All that we do now here is just speculations  We should be a bit more patient to see, know, use.
1. I think the new CWA site is not the official one, yet (correct me if I'm wrong) and we can think of it as a beta site (wrong pictures, mixed English UND German etc.)
2. About the bundles - why worry if you will get what you are supposed to get? But, as always in the world, there will be disappointed people, even if we get more than we have now. Me personally, I would be grateful just for the new software itself to see the platform grows. I know the topic was discussed many times but... Well, if you buy a car you get a bundle of features. After a month the producer changes its mind and adds some extra airbags, winter tyres, electric windows or so. Those who already bought the car don't get those goodies and they still are alive
3. Version name - that's their right to name a version 3.5 or 4.0. Isn't it? It's not a deception. We don't know the exact specs. Perhaps there is a new engine which we don't see in the pictures?

All I want to say is let's calm down and wait for the software to be released  Besides, as Fortune said, let's wait for him to have a more detailed report after he returns from Frankfurt.

hi everyone

concerning the SDK :
I heard that ADERN FLEXOR was developped on 4 DSP ...

If this is true, and there is no technical limitation, I think CWA should give the SDK to the maximum of users - this can only have positive impact to sales of cwa-cards...

Don't forget, they could have worked on SP 4.0 for some time before they went into the insolvency, so it's not necessarily only work that's been done since last month. A lot may have changed, we just don't know yet.

The Typo's been fixed.
ModIII is included with 'Scope Project' on both English and German pages now.

new CWA site: someone else noticed that when going to a page you need to refresh first before you can scroll? at least, that is the case for me... maybe it's just my badly configured browser (mac os9.2.2)

by the way: nice efforts and keep it up!
