Creamware DSP and Logic is porbably the best audio HW+SW combination that rivals or even surpasses the "standard" ProTools.
Logic and I'm sure Cubase SX's (still waiting for GC to get their Xgrade) audio engine takes advantage of CW's DSP platform very well!
Now, I'm pretty sure Samplitude is also quite up to the task on utilising the sonic qualities of our beloved DSP cards. Anyone care to comment on how Samplitude's sound compares to Logic and SX? Samp sounded good on my laptop, multitracking all my mp3s, just for kicks.
I'll be trying out SampPro in my CW box for myself when I get home tonight.

Okay, I've got Samplitude Producer demo on my CW Box. I have to use the 16bit Wave Src/Dst.
I checked the audio profile on Samplitude and Pulsar's sampling rate is only recognised up to 16bit/44.1KHz. I set Samp at 24/44.1 but if Samp profiles Pulsar at only 16/44.1, then, that's my limit?!!
I haven't invested much time with it anyway so... I'll try again. Have the whole weekend ahead!
Running Samplitude Pro demo on Win98SE + SFP 3.1a.
SampliPro sounds awesome otherwise - and that's still at 16bit Wave.... Now, I'm just trying to figure out how to set PulsarII+ to fully utilise Samplitude at 24/96.....
Any advise is much obliged!

I don't see that in my menu. The only close thing I find to that is 24 Wave or something or rather, but, that doesn't work either.
Also, Samplitude's setting profile on Pulsar is only limited to 16/44.1.
Maybe I have to load up the 24bit Wave Source/Dest modules on the SFP project first, then start Samplitude?
Also, I've got plethora of ASIO drivers on my I/O list.

I hope that it is the solution. Although, Samplitude should already "know" that the Pulsar II card is 24/96 even without any modules loaded.

It´s not the hardware that´s so good with Protools. It´s the software, the system-possibilities and the image that makes Protools to such a strong contender. But they still failed to give their users a midi sequencer/editor that´s up to Logic/Cubase.
Whith Samp you´ve got a certain dithering default setting, I think it is set to 0,5 bit depth by default. That also changes the sound quality, so you have to turn it off when you want to compare different apps. Although the manual states that Samplitude only dithers when going down to 16 bit, it can be heard in playback. You´ll find the dithering option at the "options menu"->"preferences"->"dither options".

Hey Z,
I don't understand, the Pulsar has 24bit wave dest/source modules, they came with the initial instal. Go to you device manager and get to the properties of the Pulsar card go to settings and setup number of wave drivers
i/o you want. reboot. launch pulsar, grag the 24bit wave dest/source modules into the project window, launch samp (make sure sam is set to 32bit "internal resolution" and away you go.

Hey Sunshine, what you say is true if your sound card only supports 16 bit resolution, there is no dithering while working with the pulsar card, all internal res is 32 floating point bits (has been for years).

Hey there!
This is Samplitude's profile of Pulsar...
I'm using the 16 Wave Interleaved Src/Dest modules to pipe Samplitude through the SFP environment.
Samplitude Pulsar Playback
Samplitude Pulsar Record
Samplitudes processing is 32bit internal, 24bit/44.1 rate, but if it only profiles Pulsar at these rates (ref. above pics), will it still be completely 24bit?

Why do you not try the 24bit drivers in Pulsar and then start Samplitude?
That is, what I did, and it worked to me.
I told you of this solution - did you ignore that, or did you try it?

I tried the 24 wave but that doesn't work either. The only thing that works with Sam is the 16 Wave Interleave module. That should be 24bits, correct? Anyway, Samplitude is recording and playing at 24bits (display on the bottom right), but, why doesn't the Pulsar's profile show beyond 16/44.1? I've loaded all 24bit modules on SFP before starting Sam but Pulsar's sampling rate is still limited to 16/44.1, according to Sam's profile?
Am I overlooking something here?

I just unpacked my Music PC to check out the stuff (was "out of bussiness" due to moving around furnitures). My Samplitude show me the same, as your does on the picture. The wave files I record are named 24 though, so I expect the recording to be 24bit.
In the record parameters (right click on rec button) I chose 32 floating, and in Pulsar I use 24bit interleaved wave drivers.
I do not know, if these are the best settings, so far I just use them and am very happy with my zero latency.

Hi Z, Immanual, Maybe there is some limitation in the demo version, ie. v6.0 to ver6.04(I can't remember). cause my playback capabilities and record capablities
dialog windows are different.I can't do a screen shot because my DAW is stripped of all extraneous s/w. BTW click the 32bit Device resolution/playback communication radio button in your Systems/Global Audio Options dialog, that will allow 32 bit Playback in your profile
Sorry I can't be of any more help, 32bit play/rec is possible to do, and when v6.5 hits the floor you will have ASIO.

You may want to use VST plugs without a dx wrapper or maybe VST instruments. and also some use pulsar to record with and then mix entirely in sam, asio will bring virtually no latency while moving faders and such.
Just a thought guys, what OS are you using,
WinXP?, 24 bit drivers don't work - or so I hear, I still use 98se

So I thought, too. My setting within Sam is 32bit res, 24/44.1 rate. Although, according to the Play/Rec dialogue, Pulsar is only capable of 16/44.1... Sam still plays at 24bit and workd fine through SFP.
Is the 16 Wave Interleaved module 24bit?

Moving stuff around sure is fun eh?!

I had to do a little bit of that meself after we had that earthquake last Febuary 2001. But, I've got the best setup now.

There isn't one, Samp uses wave drivers ala Windows MME.
I think the interleaved drivers were used for SAW pro or something. All the stuff I don't use in the way of drivers, I created a sub directory and moved it all there to get it out of the way.
