sure, an i series processor will work fine in XP. windows 7 is just more optimized for i series processors. for this purpose, it probably doesn't matter THAT much.

Jimmy, 1000 THANKS for the hint with the HP XW 4400 series... I couldn't resist and bought a XW4600 with Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2,83GHZ. YES!!!! now thatone with 2 Scope Pro Cards (I will add another 4DSPs when I find my TDMbuscables) my I5 laptop looks like a cheap Toy

)))
Somehow that fleemarked XP professional version (I payed 10€ for that originally sealed bag so no worry) turned out to be an english one, but who cares.

I did a very small recording, testing my new workflow and I'm very happy with it (I started recording on an usb-stick on my eee-pc with RME babyface, so I can use best acoustic corners in the house I live in. If I'm in an experimental mood I connect my I5 laptop to some analogue 19'' stuff in a chaotic cable messed corner so I have nice analogue EQ, Comp, PSYq, tube..., when I'm ready for working on my windowplace desktop with Q9550 I have all the scope power in addition.)
The idea with the fast USB stick for recordings with small amount of tracks in first place (no idea how much it will do so far, but prooved to be very good for recording acoustic instruments on some tracks.) sets free some creative energy. I don't have to think on which PC I'll work for a whole project - just for a special mood. Using nearly 100% freeware vsts and reaper portable allows me to run exact same configurations on each system. So far I have not installed scuffham on the big machine because I only have license for 2 machines, but on that machine I have the dynatubes running on scope, so perfectly O.K..
From first impression the HP xw4600 Q9550 cpu desktop is about twice as fast as the I5 laptop. Maybe even better with high project loads, I'd bet. Beeing able to use scope on that coputer in addition makes me forget about any limitation. It's just about making sounds & music now, what makes me really happy!!

How can I set IRQs to be the same for both scope cards on HP XW4600?
I just managed to reimplant the NVIDIA graphiccard which was very loud, but one is able to control fanspeed, so now it works perfectly. Connected a bigger display (22'' for 70 €) & will use 2 displays again soon. So I'm looking for the last optimizationes. It seems to me, that sometimes there is a conflict which I knew from IRQ problems...

you can't, but then you don't need to.
start\programs\accessories\system tools\system information\hardware resources\conflicts/sharing
what is sharing an irq with the Scope card(s)?

usb is sharing irqs I bet that's the reason why I have problems when using babyface & scope at the same time...

the USB controller that is sharing will have a number identifying it, something like 1EA6 or whatever. open the device manager, find that controller in the list of USB controllers and disable it.

Thanks! I don't know why, but it seems to work quite fine, although I can't really get rid of those conflicts.

some things can share an irq with the card without a problem. usb is not one of those things. any modern motherboard will have so many devices needing a cpu cycle that the need to disable a usb controller or two is inevitable. luckily, most motherboards have six or more usb controllers, so losing even three or four of them is usually not a big deal.

Thanks for your fantastic support. I thought scope would die slowly, but somehow after seeing that so many new mainboards work supercool & support is there I hope so much, that developement is there still too. I was using SDK again today. Maybe I will post the one or the other device soon.
