It was one of their authors nicking them from SoS and they actually published a rather large retraction after removing him from their roster of artists.
Have to say when I buy FM I typically brush through it in 1-2 sessions, only pausing for the occasional article or two at the end to absorb more.
SoS usually lasts a few days around here, typically absorbed during quick snacks and the occasional 5 minute sitdown outside to enjoy the weather (when its warm). I have noticed that when there are programs or techniques that are being talked about on forums and in chat conversations online, typically SoS is fairly on the ball and it something will show up in a future mag about it (seems like it might take 2 months for stuff to get to press hence the lag). And on this subject I mean small apps or tools that are really neat but not in the mainstream and often not made by any major player.
Incidentally someone earlier replied to my comments on computer music and I would have to agree that for a beginner it is probably a decent buy since it comes with all the software and a few quick run-throughs. Just be nice if they would through in even a few intermediate bits of info to warrant the $15 they charge here in teh US for it.
