for me it just mean they do all they can for a christmas release  ... I think it is worth waiting when possible ... And by now, i don't see any real competitor (external rack gathering converters, huge DSP power and many synth / FX, 2 preamp) so I keep my money at the bank :D

aaargh. i'm just sick of waiting, sick of reading threads guessing when IT will be released. Nothing is going on, nothing develops, it's still all the same like 2 years ago. ok, i'll stop moaning now, have a nice day, the sun is shining...

i would have said that there was too much new plugins BEFORE the Xite release so we have been acustomed to that. You will never find so much different tools (fx, synth) in any other platform believe me. When considering the time spent by Universal Audio to launch the UAD-2 (which is just a more powerful board) and powercore with their system 6000 (they have kept the same hardware !), i tend to think that a 6 month delay (if they release the Xite in dec-january) is a very short time. And Xite is something new : preamp, express card connection (like apogee), external rack, 10x scope pro power ...

The wait remains mouth-watering to me considering the lack of real competitor :D

is it possible to combine xite and powercore6000

sorry... what i found at http://forum.tcelectronic.com/viewtopic.php?id=2335 is no good.
and the flash demo of UAD2 is poor !! is that voice process with uad plugs!!

:D System 6000 is 3000 euros just for the same powercorex8 hardware + high end plugins. Too expensive for me really  Furthermore, it is mainly for mixing because of latency (not like Scope). And last but not the least : on a laptop you must optimize the firewire/express card use. If you (like me) want 2 external HD ( for Samples /VSL-RMX + audio files) then you already use the 2 FW 400 + FW 800. then you just have the express card for .... the Xite ! That's why I have dropped the powercoreX8 as it uses the FW bandwidth you won't be able to share with an audio interface (it is risky !)

Oh and just check at Thomann guys ... they have changed the availability : http://www.thomann.de/fr/soniccore_xite_1.htm Closer and closer....

Actually it means, that there is an anoucement... from their distributor

that means it will most probably not be found under the christmas tree (unless you extend christmas somewhat).
but might make you miss the beginning of 2009 (because there is no bigger bang  )

I know that this has been mentioned elsewhere, but the current poor performance of the Pound against the Euro means that the XITE-1 will be nearly £400 more expensive for me than it would have been a year ago. Would have cost c.£1970 this time last year, now its £2410. Never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I think that's going to make me seriously consider whether I can go for it. I could probably have justified anything under £2K, but not much more than that. Maybe I'll have to waiit and see if the pound picks up again, or if SC do eventually come up with a scaled down version of the XITE.
But the implications of not getting a XITE-1 are huge for me as it's all tied up with needing to upgrade my ageing PC and needing to decide whether this will need to host my PCI cards any more.

Ah well, that's the way the market goes, I guess. Sorry, just thinking aloud I guess.

Ben

Well over here they keep the dollar somewhat stable while our property value has dropped 40%.
I see a 60 dollar increase since June of the XITE-1, but since I look at what I will make, it lessens the pain even if this goes up 1 large.
Prime Minister Brown's advice seems to set the rules recently, as every suggestion he has made, other leaders in Congress and the White House have adopted and naturally try to act as though it was their idea, these politicians have no shame.

I hope you get one Ben as I plan on finally using Modular in a big way w/ XITE-1. Your contributions and others for Modular are much appreciated, and with no DSP constraints, one can only imagine what's possible now.

Tippers 2U,

I hope the pound picks up.

This leaves more money for other, heavily needed equipment. I have more than enough Xite cash stashed, I had a feeling the pound was gonna drop against the euro before the release date. Maybe not as much as it has, but still. So all other purchases are on hold till I got my hands on me new box. Then we can see what left for eveything else.

Early next year then??? Rock on.

Still, VAT in the UK has just gone down by 2.5%, so that's got to help :-)

Won't buy it now - just too expensive (UK) - they need to ship a 'lite' version

Could pick up another 15 DSPs when everyone wants to get rid..............

I remember when the 15 DSP scope cards first became available here. They were something like $15,000.00 AUS. I bought mine when they came down to $2500.00. So I'll be waiting for quite some time until there is a vibrant xite-1 community and a stable platform and by then AUS prices should be down a bit.

Yes, I guess I'll try to wait patiently for about 2 or 3 years and see if I can afford a XITE then, either in the shops for a little less than the current price, or 2nd hand. (Or I wait for the future slimmed down version)...
In the meanwhile I'll be happy to play with scope 5.0 with my 18 old DSP's. :)

Think about that...
