it must not be very difficult to make one by yourself, for 150/200 € , and it would fit better in your own room.
(for ex : the best place for cable connections is on the top of such a box, not behind. i'll send plans when i finsih to design mine).

Would be nice to put knowledge in common to allow people make their own isolation boxes...

What's "difficult" is the removal of heat.
At first i thought taking an old mobo to use it as a fan power supply for air extraction (before an internal case to break the sound...)
any better idea ?

the heat pipe is the neat thing.silent heat removal!saw a demo at the namm show(national association of music merchants)last year and it's very effective.if anyone knows where or how to get heat pipe materials,i'm interested.otherwise,i'm saving up my $1500.

yes copper and a light liquid.(alchohol or some such)works like a radiator but much more efficient....


actually more like a refrigerator than a radiator,but it needs no pump......

A cpu is coposed of several materials (metal, silicone...). there must be a temp where the stretching reaction to cold/heat is at a minimum. (so the silicone doesn't move for ex).

To Gary B : i found how to make the heat pipe, and i'm sure it can be more efficient (silent+heat wise) than the one at 1500 USD. Mine should cost betwwen 150/250 € max (approx 250$).
It took me a few researches on the web, especially anything about wheather, formation of clouds, hot/cold air etc.... I was 8'y-old when i learnt that at school
ALso, house heating, electrical heaters etc...
Plus a plate of copper.
And the shape of the heatpipe/silent cabinet is parabolic too (i ound that was the best shape for my design) ...
I'll certainly find a use for the difference (1000/1200 USD) ...

The liquid is called "dielectic oil" (in french), and according to the guy only the hard disk didn't work in it (had to be put outside), apparently, oil that doesn't change how electronic works, used in some industries.

That's liquid cooling+silent !

Yeah its certainly real, there was a demo of such a thing at comdex, apparently though they were keeping it close to their chest.
Especially the EXACT kind of oil that was being used to do it.
Be really cool if someone can find out and post it here.

Fan Verax Pro is good. Got it from Silentmaxx. They also sell a Kit to imitate their ST-11 case. Not bad and easy to do. My machine now is very quiet, just a far away basic level that reminds me not to forget to shutdown after finishing.
That's how I wanted it.
My power supply is Engelking, all fans are Verax, Kit is partly used (I did'nt use the thick ones) and drives are Barracudas. Only noisy components are burner and DVD when started. Well, no solutions for that...

Ola! I think my system is noiseless like the new G4. I using a coolermaster cp5 7jdiol silent (2200rpm) for my xp2100+@1820Mhz, enermax 431W supply with velocity control (now at 2000rpm) and an enermax fan also with velocity control on the left of the case (i made an hole in the left sheet iron of the case and now the fan is running at 1000rpm). No more noise. temp are ok: MB at 35°C and CPU at 55°C (real temp!! the asus a7m266 detects the diode temperature that is 8-10°C over the normal conditions) 100% full load/3 hours with temp amb at 30°C.

water cooling reqires a FAN! the fan cools down the radiator.

if you could get a greatly oversised radiator (8x the size?) then you could dispense with the fan. it would be ugly though.

try using a fan duct (a hole and a peice of tubing on the side of your tower above the CPU fan.)

if you are scared of dust you can use a filter mesh.

this will allow the CPU to have fresh cool air before any other component heated it up. you can then reduce the voltage of the fan to make it quieter and have the same cooling.

also avoid small fans. they have to spin faster and make more noise. (like the old A16!)

they use heat pipe thingus made by noren products. it is quite possible you could get the same thing from them and build the box your self.
