Pleased it has worked for you but I wouldn't advise giving the program anymore priority, if things are working ok at high, then leave it at that.
Somebody with better knowledge of thread priorities might be able to answer this better, but I would reckon real time might be the priority that some of the operating system has, so you would probably find it would go the other way and start running worse than at normal priority.

As regards setting your system higher than AboveNormal, all I can say is this priority changing is suck it and see stuff. This might be why Emagic set the priority at Normal, because it is the safest setting. Never seen any official statement from the Emagic programmers on this issue, which is a shame because it is the one thing that lets Logic down.
