When I had my first dual CPU board (VIA), I couldn't load reverbs but it didn't give me any CPVErrors. This deck, Acorp 6A815EPD, does give CPVE. I've removed one CPU months ago, all is working like a charm now. But I am sure that dual works lightening fast, even for regular programs. WinXP seems to divide programs automatically over the two CPU's, and indeed Cubase has it's own dual cpu management system. I never activated that MultiCPU option in cubase, WinXP did a far better job on deviding the loads.

I'm no more nervous about any updates, cos as I said, my system works like a charm now. I hava strong faith in CW that they will do something about that. If not, no disaster for me. Then I'll wait for CubaseSX, get me a new mobo for my spare P3, and update my PII-400 machine.

Actually I was under the impression that Cubase's default (multiproc mode unchecked) mode was to load cpu0 with the regular midi & program engine stuff, and put all VST on cpu1 (provided you have a dual of course). All enabling the multiproc mode does is allow the VST stuff to be split across processors, so I would think Cubase seems to be managing the load across cpus all the time regardless of whether the checkbox is used.

An interesting note is that Nuendo seems to do the same thing, with the exception that when SMP mode is enabled vst EFFECTS seem to get split across both cpu's, but VSTi's still reside on cpu1 resulting in slightly less stability than cubase.

Also, be nice if Logic supported duals on the pc (I hear that it supports the dual macs now).
