Creamware Modular II Classes
yah i was a little peaked when he said this as well.
here is exactly what he said:
"In any case, I will reserve making a decision until I see what v3.1
brings...I hear that there will be some new modules for the Modular in
that release, or something to that effect."
i wouldn't go off emailing him, asking. it wouldn't be polite. lets just wait and see. it shouldn't be that much longer of a wait.

you made a good point thar caleb
why worry about adding more when one is still learning how to use what is availible (which i needn't really emphasize is quite a lot)?
although, yes, it would be nice to see them bring out something off the beaten path. or even just some usefull stuffs, or additions, useability improvements.
granulation imo is best left to native plug-in's.
pluggo does a great job of this for me (thonk is fun too, riverrun is WAAAY coool, but super processor intensive), mmm.
plus all kinds of other odd and detailed effects processing.
you pc users should have a pluggo & max/msp in the next 6 months to a year.

my 2 cents go for some physical modelling 'oscillator' and an improvement of the midi stuff - but of course pure speculation.
And thinking about the original intention of this thread: the reaction of John is very cool which also applies to his freebies. So I wouldn't bother about the 30 bucks to support a project like this.
Obviously there's enough interest and input here that this doesn't get just another lame event but something really inspiring.

ot....but

Elektra, SCOPE Fusion Platform (SFP)
FAQ
I am Elektra user and learn that Elektra is not available anymore. What about Elektra users in the future?
Solution
The Elektra bundle will no longer be available, but the system itself is still supported. The Modular is an important part of our platform, and we are already working on a new version. Of course Elektra users can update to (or upgrade if you run a Luna version < 3.0) to the SCOPE Fusion Platform (SFP). With the update to SCOPE Fusion Platform v3.1 the user gets new mixer / effects, and now can also optionally purchase additional synth packages. See our product pages for more information.
thanks to bosone and his april fools thread. someone mentioned the cw faq was updated with a scope fusion section, and that this was one of the entries in there.
sure enough 'tis.
looking good

I do not read it as:
"We will have a new modular ready with SFP"
rather as just:
"We are working on a new Modular3"
And then on a sidenote:
"Elektra-users will get some of the SFP cake too"

Anyway.
My Modular2 is brand new. So I guess, I will not be ready for the workshop. Also, I am uneqperienced with that way of using the internet (discussion groups, MSN, and such - have never been there).
But if it can be done in a way, so all participants gets all the info given from John (like, if we where in the same room). And if someone can hook me up with a way to record the whole sesion (or do it and mail it to me), then I would be happy to join in anyway - like the fly on the wall: Observant, not actively participating, and not realy getting the point. But wouldn't matter much, as I will have the point saved for future times (when I will be ready). Kind of like an investment.
I do not know any Zarg synths. I am not much of a synth user, but I find the Mod2 a fun toy, that I hope someday, I will use for processing vocals
And with all the hype around this project, there must be something good to learn. And considdering the price I payed for my hardware, some 30-50$ will be OK to spend, if it can take me further than the tutorials.

No hooks. Not necessary. Thing will be done by email. Too many different regions of the planet for a chat. Somebody always is at work somewhere, so he cannot participate. So all to expect is email.
With the offered material you can do what you want and who knows, vocal processing is probably included or will be if you ask for it.
But anyway, a lesson is a lesson and following these will have the best results. For yourself. So that is why I hope that some of the M2 PulsarianZ participate and ask the interesting questions.
And for some time during the weekend I'm "Not to disturb" while
Happy modularing

ok, ok...this is true. after thinking about it just now, it does sound like the update won't release coinciding with scope fusion. i'm not in any rush.On 2002-04-01 23:26, Immanuel wrote:

still, they could release some extra modules or what have you?
i found it hopefull all the same.
gotta check that faq more often. too bad its pretty much hidden from view.
yes! you've got the right idea immanuel.
a resource to pull from! no rush to pick all up in the moment. the material will wait until your ready. and for those that wish to take advantage of the interactivity that this would provide, it would just be another facet of the positives this experience could foster.
it didn't come into my mind about the real-time chat, and all the worldly modular 2 users.
so yah, that would be pretty much impossible, unless a bunch of us agreed to meet at a certain few times to chat about this or that.
we're up to maybe 14 or 15 here!

Would it be an idea to run it on a messageboard?
People could ask John questions by mail, and then he could answer them on a board.
The idea of the questions NOT being asked on the board would be, that if they where, John would probably very quickly suffer from a severe "DSP overload" - "not enough memory" - whatever. Too many questions would probably hanging around. And a lot of them would be alike.
I have this "room" at a mailhotel. I have 100MB of space, wich is realy way much, as I only use it for mail. I have no experience running a homepage, but give me a scedule, and I will learn (for emergency, I know people who do it semiprofessionally).
It is just an idea. And only workshop paying people will have acces. If more people want in, they would have to pay (or get a leaked pass
, but I guess, I could check tcpip once in a while?). The money comming in this way will be put aside to a second round with John (if he likes that idea).

I now have my Modular V2, at last! I'm experimenting a bit with it, well, rather opening patches and leastening to the new saunds. There are about 250 Patches, wowww!!! Crazy! Now that I have it, I would probably participate, if I see the course is not too difficult for me. My first language is Spanish, not English and I'm completely new to Modular staff. I've once tryed to get into it, but found it very complicated and put it off.
I think we have not to speculate too much about what it should or shoudn't be, but wait ing for JB to see what HE wants and can offer to us. Cheers
