both ADA8000 and ADA8200 have mic pres. the 8200 is the improved model and the price is similar to the 8000, so that's why i suggested the 8200. the extra $20 or so for the Midas branded pres and improved AD/DA circuits doesn't seem likew a bad deal, but both are fine. they're not the best AD/DAs ever, but they're plenty good, as good as MOTU or most PT interfaces. the guy who designed SAW Studio, a professional DAW that you'll find in places like Vegas showrooms, swears by em.

one would give you 8 ins and 8 outs, which all will work at the same time and can be routed in any configuration, even as an effects loop or any other combination of in and out. naturally the ins and outs do not need to be related.

the only big disadvantage to the ADA8000 amd 8200 converters is that while they have 1/3" TRS ins they are XLR out only. it's not the end of the world, it just means that you'll need some adaptors. so, that's one extra thing besides a pair of lightpipe cables. oh, and another ADA8200/8000 if you wanted another 8 i/o....

Thank you. That does answer my question. It isn't that I thought the ADA8000 didn't have mic pres, I just had read somewhere that the 8200's had been improved and I don't care much about that. I couldn't find anything about the 8200 having better AD/DA, but I'd for sure pay a little bit for a higher quality converter.

I wonder why no TRS out? Seems at that price point you'd find the latter, no XLR out. No matter. I don't care about that at this point and it's easy enough to just adapt if needed. Thanks again.

The Black Lion Audio modification of the ADA8200 IS well worth the 450 USD investment.
I wanted the A32 but had to buy something while waiting.
700 total for a great way to add mic pres to the XITE-1.
Not to mention such flexible ADAT routing.
Never see such routing on any unit under 1000 USD.

The achilles heal on Behringer ADDAs always were the PSUs which made ´em not so much reliable over time.
These PSUs are part of the cost reduction.

I don´t see Black Lion Audio modifications replace these.
