I have a scope project card for sale if you are interested, you'll get 6 dsp's plus V5 software and some extra plugs, I have the mix n master pack but also some of the synths. Send me a pm if you are interested. Regardless of that I think you'd find a 3 dsp card too limited so even if you are buying new think about getting a more powerful card, of course you can always add a card afterwards but you won't be long wanting more power once you explore the limits of the 3 dsp card.

I suggest going to the nearest Casino and watching the Roulette Wheel.
Once you see that same color come up 3 times in a row, bet the opposite color and cover every square.
This costs 95 USD using 5 dollar chips but on a 5 to 1 payback you will have enough money to become a Scoper....
Besides, gambling will put hair on your chest.
Also take no chances, while the wheel is spinning pray to Zues, Thor, Jesus, Mahammed, Buddah, Oden, Bringham Young or any Diety that comes to mind.

Hell when I first moved to Vegas I used the Bus scam.
You buy a 1 dollar ticket and the bus takes you to 12 casinos, each for 30 minutes.
But you get a roll of quarters after standing in line at each of the 12 stops.
While I was waiting for the gig to start I had 6 weeks of waiting, so 120 bucks a day was cool with me.
I use to punish my wife and make her stand in line with all of these degenerates for losing my hard earned coin.
Half of my gear comes from winnings and local scams.

the cards are really solid. My first Pulsar One is on daily duty for 8 years... almost running 24/7 as I never switch the PC off. There isn't much on the cards that could break and failure reports are veryyy low.
Sometimes a cap drops off due to smd soldering - easy to repair.
My guess is that less than 5 'severe' cases were reported on this board for a period of 6 years.
Among them failure of the card's eeprom (can be replaced) or even more rare, a blown cap.
Considering the temperatures under which the things usually operate that's just amazing.
I've moved my focus to guitar and bass (and less synths) - today I admire Jimmy for his creations
But I would have no idea how to handle things without Scope...

My original Pulsar I is still in use in my main DAW after 11 years. Parked next to a 6 year old SRB and a 3-year old Scope Pro. Pulsar I and SRB have resided in 3 different computers over all these years.

UAD is good, but expensive, and are mostly ONLY effects with licensed GUI's that we HOPE accurately emulate their namesakes .
(IMO part of UAD's cost is the GUI licensing, but that's just my opinion).

Scope has it's own high-quality effects and great 3rd party developers that easily rival the UAD's and especially native VST stuff.
The 'good' VST stuff are usually expensive and require ever-more bigger-more-powerful CPU horsepower just to run one reverb.
In Scope we have the advantage of running multiple devices and leaving the CPU to handle other tasks.

If you're mainly looking at mixing, then I also recommend a 6-DSP card, and you'll be able to use multiple mixers for different purposes. With more DSP you get more synths and effect overhead.

The Scope drivers have been rock solid and reliable for over a decade here.

Re: new capacitors or whatever....I doubt SC would modify the old Creamware inventory with new components, since there should be no degredation. Having an engineering background myself, I still have ACTIVE boards working for over 10 years, let alone one that's been sitting in a box on a shelf.

Scope is a very good investment, and there are some good deals on used cards from guys that are making the jump up to the Xite.
