Man on man it hit -20 before windchill here this week

I could do with a sunny beach for a while.

IME from a hardware design perspective, it would be logical to use the same converters, circuit, PCB layout, etc. on all your devices. This makes the most sense to me from a functionality, test, and budgetary mindset.

Sorry if I took you the wrong way Garyb. I get a little irritated when I think people are telling me what I am hearing, hence my reaction.

I wouldn't sweat it Mike. Gary's got skin thicker than a T-rex.

Are you able to comment on the drivers? Have they improved?
Yes, it clearly improved in stability since the first versions but it is still firewire and that comes in IRQ conflict with my Scope boards. That's why I'm now using it through ADAT in stand-alone only, connecting it sometimes if I need the DSP Recall setups or the firmware to be updated.
A shame but as I said I can't use it to send my signal in ADAT 3-4 and get the wet reverb or mixed channel strip signal back on ADAT output 3-4 to the scope, still using ADAT 1-2 as a main monitor at the same time.
It's not as flexible as Scope

Just a 2 cents sort of response...
I just recently switched over from the analog outputs to a pair of outputs from my A16 - for monitoring as discussed - and I noticed a difference right away. The sound had more low end punch and the overall sound seemed a little more 3 dimensional to my ears. I've been running from the analog outputs for years - thinking it was good enough. And for the most part it was. But I liked the improvement and decided to stick with it for now. Let your own ears be the judge.

hmm, I didn't try through the A16. I will give it a try this w.e.
Maybe I will sell my TC then...

In the end I decided to sell the Firestudio because I simply do not need the in's and out's right now. I cant afford xite so I decided to put that cash into a UAD2 Duo(not saying that to piss anyone off). I still plan on picking up another pulsarII so I can have a couple of nice synth patches as well as my mixer with a couple of good reverbs running with having to worry about anything.

It looks like it's a good compromise and I've seen many people using S|C and UAD together. The reverbs on Scope are too much demanding on PCI bus and on DSP's (for the good ones).
I you want to use Scope as a mixer, you somehow need too "externalize" certain things...

why not use a uad?
Mike, an extra card is nice. you'll want more later...
i don't think you're losing anything losing the firestudio.

The new uad's are pretty nutty. Like xite they represent the new world of dsp for audio production. I had used UAD in the past but there where issues with Live and the lack of power on the cards made them feel like a dongle that cost hundreds of dollars. Like the xite you are now looking at many times the power, for example the uad's go between 2.5 and 10X the power.
As for the converters like I said I think they sound pretty good. Certainly good enough to get good mixes from. I think they might sound a litter softer for lack of a better word. This is not such a bad thing since I am monitoring though Adams and they are very sharp sounding in the high end.
