yeah I also think the noah is terminated internally. I read the ff manual and would put the ff as master as you say and if creamware allows to be slave. In fact I'd like to try both possibilities: syncplate or ff as master. I did the wiring as you suggest but the fireface wordclock led stays dead, and that is why I asked about the T connector -they mention it in the manual-
ah well, I guess it'll be shopping time for a connector tomorrow. Fortunatelly it only costs about 5€
imho that's a missunderstanding - the wordclock led is only supposed to light up with an input signal. The manual says the wordclock out is always active, so there's no need for an indicator. They explicitely discourage the use of a T-adapter on the input side, as that wouldn't benefit from the re-clocking feature.
Man, I owe you a beer!! it is working with the sync plate as master, its out to the ff in and the ff out to the noah it seems you were right about the led. Ok I'll now give it another shot with ff as master
