I for sure am ready to give up some speed for more stability… This is something everybody that has used a PC for more than 5 years will want! For sure!
But, how can it handle 8GB of ram if for it to work properly, due to its 1.8 volts, you are forced to add 512 modules? In that case, having 4 slots, you have a maximum of 2GB, but not 8. If the board has problems handling sticks of 1GB because of poor electricity power supply in these ram slots, how would it handle 2GB sticks? That’s what I understood, perhaps I’m wrong.

it's fine if the sticks are 1.8vlts, only a minor hassle with ddr800, not with 667. if maximum speed is the issue, then it would probably be a bad choice, but it's fine if you are ok with 667. there are certainly other motherboards that are worth mentioning. the main thing about this solution is that it's very cheap and very stable, while still being about the same speed as anything else currently out there. in the near future, there will be faster.
reading the info sheet coming with the dp965lt does imho indicate that the 1.8V issue is indeed related to DDR2-800 only, but not only the voltage but also the timings (5-5-5 and 6-6-6) are relevant.
if you search kingston for compatible memory, you will find the
kit that will (hopefully) give you the full 8GB experience (if you desire )

ps: yes, I ordered that board. no, I did not integrate it yet, since I'm not completely sure about the kind of processor to choose anymore (because I found out that my hw revision would support the Q6600...), as well as the amount and type of memory (since it is meant to last for some years in that combination).

i haven't tried the AV models, only the caviar and raptor.
i'd say any drive 8mb or bigger cache will do. i specify western digital because they have been super reliable and they have the best warranty as a brand. all modern 7200rpm drives are plenty fast for audio.
These AV models are just becoming available in our area. The prices are about the same than Caviars.
What interests me is that they are supposed to be very silent.
I've mostly used Maxtor drives but have had some trouble with them. So for my new setup I decided to try WDs.
Thanx scope4live, I did what you adviced with the GS3, but now I need to actually set up all the details in GS3 (I have no idea what needs to be set up). Maybe you can post a screen shot of how its suppose to look. Also, I'm not too up to date with the GVI, I know there is a Muse based on the GVI. Maybe you can fill me in on these things.
