When I first joined the forum I knew that Sequential Circuits, and Moog, would be cloned as they were also fat bastards, but no Oberheims? Had Europe been devoid of these awesome products? Hmm. I wanted to be the first to make Oberheim sound patches. Solaris has proven to be capable of that fat bastard sound polyphonically, but monophonically is a much more daunting task. ReD_MuZe's fitler fm sweep is the best Oberheim emu. I ever heard. I have heard plenty of patches which state OBX brass and such. They were programmed by someone in the marketing department of an overpriced, overbloated product line. Hey 600 patches, what a deal.I hope the ModGodz descend from Mt.Olympus more often, as us mortals cannot survive without worship. If you notice the logo on an Oberheim, you will see Zues's bolt of Lightning, as they sounded quite godly.

If I remember correctly it was in 1974 when I just got out of the Military Academy. Hmmm,...lets see, jail, or Military Academy. Military Academy. I know it was when the ARP Odyssey came out also. Oberheim,ARP,Buchla,Serge,Moog,Sequential,....Hmmm, let me see,.......I want them all!!

a couple of things i would like to add:
1) could it be that this sound was not made by OBx but a more complex synthesizer (something like the arp odyssey)

2) it is possible to tune an LFO an octave lower than one oscilator if it is only one note and no keyboard following is needed.

btw Conny Plank's studio (the man who mixed Kraftwerk, Czukay, Eno...) is selling it's analog stuff - atm the highest bet for the Obx-a is 300€.

There is a place in the USA that carries
the voice cards for the Oberheims, I will see if they have a website, as those are the critical spare parts, along with the Curtis chipsets. I just can't see buying anymore analog stuff at this time, unless it's a Studio Electronics Omega. The only fat polyphonic analog being made that I am aware of, other than the Analogics, and Doepffer stuff which is pretty pricy with 8 voice setup. All Oberheims deserve a proper burial in a studio somewhere.

Oh I'm in heaven. And obviously older, as my predilction for wrong years demonstrates. What a cool site. The 70's were exciting years for polyphonics. Since I got the year wrong, the synth could be wrong too. But I know if I liked 'em, they were fat. Thanks for plumbing me up at0m.
