Shayne, that looks pretty darn good...
I guess so, especially considering that if I make my original Pulsar 1 board the master board, I get a PCI overflow on the 2nd or 3rd Masterverb....

ASRock 939 Motherboard
[ board supports either AGP or PCIe ]
AMD X2 4200+
ASUS 6800GT-ish AGP
IDE and SATA disks

Scope Pro
9 Masterverbs in empty project
DSP Capacity message upon attempt at 10th, though I can load a bunch more stuff. So, eh, 9.

here a Pulsar One is the master of an ASUS TUSL2-C (Intel815), Celeron 1.2 G

loads 4 MVs smoothly, complains at the 5th, but gets along with it after re-sorting.
Adat IO, 1632 mixer, asio and vdat in the project with 5 active masterverbs...

possibly I could squeeze even a bit more from it with a 133/133 bus/ram setting (it's 100/100 currently) when I plug in a P3 CPU...

cheers, Tom

hi

yesterday i have installed a 14 srb used to my setup

msi neo2 platinum 939 nforce 3 ultra chipset
amd64 3000 clawhammer  (no sse)
1 giga memory
nvidia agp 4000 card
3 ide hardisk and one dvdcd rw
luna2, powerpulsar,srb 33dsp
i can load 18 masterverb without problems,
after i have a problem to find 32k delay dsp
but i can load other 2 masterverb pushing the optimization window after this
pci limited reachead the yellow one window

ciao

Sorry i don't write much but i've since upgraded my setup which is:-.....

1) Mobo. Gigabyte K8NS Ultra 939. (nf3 chipset) CPU.. AMD64 X2 4800+. Ram.. 2x 1Gig Corsair PC3200

2) 2x Scope Pro + 1 UAD

3) Matrox P650

4) 1. Masterverb Pro.. 13
Pci limit reached on 14th.

2. Masterverb.. 17
Pci limit reached on 18th also Pci Master Overflow

ok, Heres my results

1. AOpen AK77-600GN mobo..AMD athalon 3.2+...2gig RAM...1SATA 1SCSI 2ATA drives...DVDRW..XPpro SP2

2. ScopeHome (LunaII) + Pulsar2XTC -9DSPs[and I need/want more]

3. ATI Radeon 9200

4. 11 Masterverbs...12th runs out of DSP..no PCI limit yet.

also not bad for a VIA chipset.

1) Intel 915GV Express-Chipsatz, Intel Pentium 4-Processor 3,00 GHz, 2 MB L2-Cache, 800 MHz FSB, 1GB RAM

2) 1x Scope 15 DSP, 1x PulsarII 6 DSP

3) 128MB PCI Express x16 ATI Radeon X300 with DualDisplay enabled

4) 16 Masterverbs, no PCI limit

Not to bad for such a cheap Dell Dimension 5000...

Has anyone tested with a magma pci-chassis?

My setup

Pentium IV 2.6 ghz
Intel 865 Perl
1 Gb Ram
MSI Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 - AGP
Pulsar 2 (z-link) + SRB (6 dsp) = 12 DSP

16 Masterverb in a empty project. I ran out of DSP memory.

new test:

2x scope srb (15 dsp each)
1x pulsar 1

mainboard gigabyte k8ns pro, 1.5 giga ddr 400

loaded 20 masterverbs

during the test, i've received sometimes the pci master overflow message and the global optimization message, but not always.
Maybe the pulsar 1 card could cause some problem, because i've noticed that it happen when the pulsar1's dsps are up to 80%.

Is there some optimization tip to solve the problem or a line to insert in cset.ini to prevent scope loading the pulsar 1 dsp?

Thanks

Micron

If you go into Windows' System properties, you can disable the Pulsar 1 board. After a reboot, Scope won't be able to access it anymore. (You can always reenable it again.)

It's a good way to troubleshoot without having to remove the card from the computer physically.

thank you shayne,
i need my pulsar 1 just for the phisical in/out, i'm thinking about adding the i/o expansion module to one of the scope srb, and i'll put the pulsar 1 in a secondary pc

1) intel d850mv2, northwood 2.8ghz, 1gb rambus

2)Matrox g500

3)2 scope +scope srb

get 11 masterverb without problems 12 overflow sigh

Hey garYB you have the my same motherboard ,you run pc 1066 rambus??I have still pc 800 please post your rambus specificsation P800 or 1066??

This is MSI Neo2-F (Nforce3 Ultra), AMD 4000+ , Nvidia AGP 6800 Ultra, 1 Scope Pro: 9 Masterverb Pro's. This NForce3 Ultra board is performing quite nicely.

Added a Project to my Pro, so now 6+15=21 DSP and 13 Masterverb Pro's. Note: my system has more capacity when the Project is "board0", i.e. DSP's 1,2,3,4,5,6 in the DSP Load window. I would only get between 9 and 12 if the order was reversed of that. The CSET.INI trick lets you switch that fairly easily, so it's good to pay attention to that.

I have a question about this test. Why would you do a test on an empty project? Isn't this reverb test supposed to mean something only when the Masterverbs are outputting something? Maybe I'm wrong but I am curious. (I am not being sarcastic, I really want to know)

I must admit though that I really don't understand this "how many reverbs can you use" testing.

It's a test to measure of the raw PCI bandwidth usage. Each reverb you load will setup some delay lines using the PCI bus. If you connect the reverbs or have other modules loaded, this could interfere with the PCI bandwidth used (i.e. ASIO connections will eat up PCI bandwidth too, etc.) Loading only reverbs ensures that there is no difference in the measure between the different systems.

Any device that uses the PCI bus would work, reverb is just practical because it's fairly heavy on bandiwidth use, so you don't have to load 200 devices to max out the PCI bus.

A test involving connected reverbs would also be valid, but you'd have to standardize the connections for it to be a useful benchmark/comparison test.

I've done it once using the STM2448 mixer with ASIO outputs connected to its inputs, loading the Masterverbs as inserts (one per channel), and I got pretty similar results as just loading them in an empty project. I could load one more in the empty project I think. Empty project is just faster and easier to setup =P

And it's probably obvious that this is a typical kind of computer system baseline benchmarking. For example, I just added a second card to my system. Knowing how my system performed before the installation and after the installation lets me know that everything is working as expected, or to spot trouble if something is not exactly right.

@djmicron

Do you still have same graphic card, is k8ns pro a 939 or 754 board?

Thx

1)
DFI Lanparty UTNF3 ultra-D (Nforce3 ultra chipset)
Athlon64 3700+ san diego core (1mb cache)
1GB Corsair DDR333 CL2

2)
2x Pulsar2 (12dsp total)
RME Hammerfall 9636

3)
Cheap fanless GeForce MX4000 (XFX brand)

4)
15 masterverb classic
16 masterverb classic after re-loading DSPs

Notes:
project also had a Micromixer (locked to board 1), some I/O and connections. I connected up all the reverbs - not sure if this makes a difference. Sorry for the unscientific deviation from the tests... I was measuring how much PCI bandwidth I had available to me with my default project!

Pretty happy with the results
