Frank, you talk about more powerful DSP's...but how much more powerful (compared to the SHARK)? Twice? Triple? Could do with some more specific info here.
Anyway, I hope these will sell and provide CWA with the resources to implement the new technology for Scope. Not sure about the cheap looking wooden enclosure though. Is the body made of metal or plastic?
Also, do they include effects like the plugins? (I believe these have delay/chorus built in).

I don't really understand this move. Are there also some updates/bugfixes for scope 4 Frank?

it's showbiz, man - no business, no show...
part of a link Valis posted in the OT section
Interviews with electronic maestros
Peter Vogel as Fairlight co-founder was asked...
Despite its popularity, Fairlight Instruments went bankrupt. How come?
Right from the start we had no funding. We were reliant on sales to pay the wages and it was a horrendously expensive business. It was costing us something like $20,000 in components in each unit, so our market was rich pop stars. Our sales were good right up to the last minute, but we just couldn't finance the expansion and the R&D.
cheers, Tom

An interesting idea could be an ASB Modular III (+ Flexor?) with a lot of assignable knobs & LCD displays...and, why not, a matrix pin array

I think that Creamware's Modualar is better than Clavia Nord Modular II!!!
The market will be very hot
My 2 cents...

Nothing bothers me about those screws -- I think they look just fine. In fact, I think the hardware looks very nice and clean -- a much better design than Noah was.

Hm,

like
OSX...?

There's always a market for hardware, nomatter how much some feel software might offer. This is great,
I'm so glad Creamware have made this move! The could be quite tasty (the MOD ASB+Flexor or indeed Solaris would get my credit card flexding hard!) I'm sure they will do well and bring more people over to SCOPE.
Exellent news.

New info up on CreamWare's site. 6 voices max, no OS X support.
Um, Frank, I hate to say this, but Mac users are a huge portion of the pro audio community. If these things are not OS X compatible, you're going to be missing out on a lot of sales. Also, I thought new DSP chips were supposed to mean 12 or more voices? That's what "extensive" polyphony means to me. You could get 6 voices on the old chips.
This is beginning not to look so good.

i just voted @
http://messe.harmony-central.com/Musikm ... e-ASB.html
Shayne, strange it doesn't support OSX, while Noah did...
On the other hand, it seems like one doesn't need the native patcheditor really to set this up. I understand there's no audio going over the USB, only control data.

Still, the implication is that Mac doesn't matter. i'm starting to feel marginalised. Also, if you've got the money for a G5, you've probably got some for these too, so i don't see that it makes economic sense to exclude a smaller group, but potentially more sales per head than PC owners, if you see what i mean.
Mr A
ps. i'm not implying that all PC owners are cheapskates but you get my point, please don't flame, you know i love you all

yeah, six voices doesn't sound like too much from these apparently more powerful DSP's. And of course not multitimbral either. Ah well...

well, since the software doesn't require the physical presence of a DSP board, the patcheditor is highly probable to run under the VirtualPC emulation.
VirtualPC DOES support Win USB connections in the emulation, while it would of course NOT detect a DSP board.
I'd consider this a valid workaround because the emulated Windows runs much smoother than a 'real' one - in the sense that even hard die Mac heads can handle it

Once setup, the 'boot process' is just a simple application launch, probably less than 15 seconds on a G5.
of course the full support of OSX (as discussed numerous time) would be much more appreciated, but I guess the lack of programmers available and budget restrictions still apply.
cheers, Tom

Not multitimbral? Where did you get that info from?
+ What does this mean exactly:
plug-in like WindowsTM remote control software?

I can't imagine anyone using Virtual PC to run this thing! It's just plain dumb.

edit: If they work as true VSTi (somehow) then they will have some value, if not then I call them Noah MkII ...
MkII? Noah, with just ONE plugin, without possibility to add more, without digital output, in a non rack-mountable box, I'd call that Noah^0,2
I'd have rather seen some development for NOAH but I hope all the best to ASBs. Maybe some will find them useful.

well, I figured since they only have one stereo out. Let's say I would be surprised if they were multitimbral.
