yes completly agree !!

is someone could do a test like this :

record a external source from AD to vdat and to samplitude or the crappy cubase , in 24bit. and then import the 24bit file from the native stuff on a next track into the vdat .

So to come back to the OP - it sounds like VDAT is the best option if I want to record the sound and stay in Scope. I assume as it's a device I can place it anywhere in the signal path to record dry and wet signals - is there a limitation on how many copies I can load at a time?

There is dithering to consider when changing bit rate, this adds a random element at a low level. Etc...

obviously you haven't noticed the VDAT chapter in the SFP documentation (under Studio) yet

up to 128 tracks controlled in groups of 8 tracks on 1-16 modules.

ps: there's no better recording than VDAT possible on SFP because it saves exactly what's moved between the DSPs
