Have any of you tried Celmo's GAM thru Celmo Speaker Emulation?

I tried the demo version and I think that Pod is far far better ! Perhaps clean sounds are not so bad but distorted sounds really suck in Gam

Well, i tried Pod, and i seriously don't think it's better to my ear, but hey, taste is in the nature!

Pod, or for that matter, Guitar Rig sounds fake to me. I can ear the processing like it's a synth your playing, nothing left from the original guitar sound. Obviously, you have to have a sound first, but to me GAM is alot more natural.

The way i ear it, gam doesn't provide distortion, it's an overdrive.

Not the same.

Anyway, everybody's free of using what they like! And i love GAM.

I've got both the Pod (Pro version) and Celmo's GAM here in my studio.

I've produced countless albums in my studio using the Pod. To get a realistic sound with the Pod you have to get in there and turn the knobs. The presets are way too effected for my taste. I think the presets are there to show off the capbilities of the unit. Not necessarily because they are great presets for recording or anything.

While there's no substitute for a great tube amp and great speaker cabinet, the Pod is about as good as it gets with digital modeling.

The GAM is also a great piece of programming. I've used it countless times myself for my own personal productions. While I wouldn't necessarily compare it to the Pod (the Pod has a lot more going for it), Celmo's plug-in is fun tool that produces some great guitar sounds.

Keep in mind these are just sonic tools. Use them wherever and whenever it seems fitting. Having many tools at your fingertips is a good thing right?

Regarding the Celmo Speakersim.. Is it a typo on his site or ddoes the distance-controll really go from 10 to 30 METERS?!!

I think both FX processors have their place, despite the fact that I personally prefer the sound of the GAM, for no other reason but the sound itself. The POD is nice to play live perhaps, but the GAM and BAM are definitely great for the studio musician. We tend to compare plug-ins versus hardware in terms of “emulation”, but we should perhaps distinguish between “new sounds” and “emulated sounds”, I mean, we should look at those FX processors as they are with all their new possibilities, not only what they can copy or emulate.

To create new sounds the GAM and the BAM are fantastic! All you need is some patience to search slowly for the correct combination of knob monuments and proportions, then save it as a preset and there you go with your unique sound.

I have done quite a few demos here in the Z you can listen at, I have used the GAM or the BAM with nothing else, and no mix or whatever, just passed it to MP3 for people to listen to the direct sound.

I personally know of several guitarists that have bought Pulsar, just to be able to use the GAM. I think it is something quite interesting and remarkable such unusual fact. I want also to say that the POD has an immense amount of marketing behind it in magazines, the web, and hundreds of music shops, while the GAM and BAM are known exclusively in the Z and in Celmo’s web page; quite a difference! You may or may not agree with me, but marketing unfortunately does matter when you judge something, it does change your perception of things psychologically and you tend to judge something as better because it has a great amount of marketing behind it. This happens for instance, with Fender, I know quite a few new Fender guitars and bases that are bad, but people have a high respect for them because they are wildly known. Just a question:

What if Celmo would have the opportunity to get such a marketing campaign? Well, this is simple… it would be one of the best plug-ins of all times, because people would pay attention to it. I personally have paid attention to it, and for me it truly is one of the best plug-ins of all times...

really? I can't believe that!

No, I really don't think so , I judge only with my ear and I don't care about the marketing . Pod is really good for heavy distorted sounds , Gam no.
Btw, a miked cabinet with a valve head can't never(or for the moment) be replaced by a amp modeler.

distortion pedal, GAM and effects in scope and you can do everything the pod can do. i work in a music store that specializes in used gear. i can assure you i've heard it all....

the pod is nice.

most guitar players are the most brainwashed, foolish purchasers of gear in the world. all the gear in the world won't make a good player.

a mic'ed amp is still probably the best option, depending on the mic, room, etc., but virtual amps work great and make fantastic sounding recordings(when a good musician uses them).
